I've just got to say, Aqua_Lily, that you're hair is just beautiful - and it goes to your hip? Amazing. My hair is so fine and breakable I've never gotten it past my shoulders and never will. Thanks for the cool product suggestion!

I ordered one from Curlformers. I'll be tickled pink if this thing works that well. I get so bored standing there and diffusing--at least this way I can do something else while I'm drying my hair. I'll post back and let everyone know how it does with my hair. Up to recently my hair was about BCL wavy, but now it's up to about BSL wet. It still takes a long time to dry with product in.

ETA: It arrived today! I haven't used it yet, but just wanted to say that Curlformers was very fast--ordered Tuesday, here Friday. I'm not sure if it actually shipped from the UK or if they have a US distribution center, but either way it was speedy.

I'll probably wait until Monday or Tuesday to try it out, because my family will laugh anyway if they see me in it, and if I screw it up and come out looking like the Bride of Frankenstein I'll never hear the end of it. I'm somewhat inept at using hair tools, lol. During the week I'll have more privacy to practice.

I have it on right now. Easy to put on like a plop, and seems to be blowing evenly. I got bored in the bathroom and decided to brave the ridicule from my son, who's the only one home today. He started howling as soon as he saw it and walked off, saying, "I can't talk to you with that thing on your head!" Sometimes I really wish I'd had girls.

OK, results were mixed. It did dry with no frizz and the clumps stayed together, although I can pixecurl and get the same results. I got a weird flat spot on the back of my head and I'm not sure why, but I suspect it had something to do with how I put my hair in. I had my hair in a plop prior to putting it in the hood, and I probably should have shaken my curls out a bit after taking out the plop and before putting on the hood. Usually I would take out the plop, shake, and diffuse, so that would eliminate any flat spots.

It took a long time to dry. I dried for 45 minutes and it wasn't nearly dry. I used low heat interspersed with medium heat--I can't take much heat on my head. I think the long dry time was my fault, though. I use KCCC + BRHG, and a lot of it. Usually I scrunch water out with a flour sack towel, put in the gel, scrunch again, and then plop with a dry towel, but this time I screwed up and only had one towel in the bathroom, so I had to use the same towel for scrunching and plopping and my hair was wetter than usual. I think if I'd followed my normal routine, I would've been dry in 30-45 minutes. I shudder to think how long it would take if my hair was its former length with KCCC in it! I also used Smaster's technique of adding more KCCC partway through drying, and that probably didn't help either. Maybe once I get the hang of it I can get away with using less KCCC.

So overall I think it will work really well once I figure it out. The no-frizz drying is a big plus, and I think makes it worthwhile trying just for that.

I went to Sallys and they didn't have this exact one. I bought a similar one that is silver. I have it on right now and my dog is afraid of me.

Does the black one that is pictured have an elastic edge to keep hair up? My hair kept falling out. I took my sleep cap, which is part satin and part lace and plopped my hair up, then put the silver thing over that.

I can't wait to see what it looks like when I'm done.

Well, it took about 30 mins to completely dry my hair. My curls look ok but next time I will fix my part and pin my hair down to keep the part. I have a wonky looking spot where my hair is sticking straight up and bent over the wrong way.

I will try again tomorrow, and see how it goes.

(Definitely get one that has a chin strap or elastic around the base of the bonnet. Mine kept coming off. That was the only drawback so far.)

Can't find the exact brand, but I found many similar ones using the search term "soft hood hair drier"

I might try this one since it looks as if I don't have to pile my hair on top of my head:

@CurlyintheFog: that's weird that your drying time was increased! My hair normally takes 7+ hours to dry, and this softhood decreases my drying with like 80-90% to an hour.

What brand do you use? Are there many ventilation holes?

I'm sure you'll figure out how it works best for you soon! and the no-frizz is absolutely fantastic, I agree.

@Carolinacurlz: my hair doesn't fall out at all... you just have to adjust the ''rope'' around the bottom of the hood...

Mine doesn't have a rope or elastic around the bottom. I made a chin strap out of duct tape though lol..

I thought my curls looked OK. I'm still in the transition period so I have yet to have a "good" hair day since starting the CG method last week. When I went to pick up my mother in law this morning she looked at me and said "What happened to your hair!?!". So I'm thinking it really doesn't look OK lol.

Oops, I wasn't clear. My drying time was increased over the time it takes me to just pixiecurl, but I really think that was due to the KCCC and my screw-up with only having one towel. My hair was wetter than it usually is when I put the hood on. So it took longer compared to diffusing, but that was probably more due to the circumstances. I also dried mostly on low--if I used medium heat, it probably would've dried much faster, but I can't take that much heat on my head.

I have the same one you do. It's easy to put on, very comfortable, and stays on well. It does dry very evenly, and my curls weren't at all messed up except for that flat spot at the back of my head, and as I said, I think that was my fault as well. I'm barely used to using a blow dryer, let alone a hood. More practice needed!

ETA: Just wanted to add that I highly recommend buying from the Curlformers site. They were unbelievably fast in shipping, and I think the cost was actually less than Sally's. Because I live outside of town, I usually order things online unless I'm sure it's worth the trip to the store. Definitely worth it this time.

Well, this is cheaper than the Devafuser which I'm coveting.

CurlyInTheFog - Hahaha. Yep! That's what I'm afraid of at my house too. Too funny. If it makes you feel better, Teenage girls can be pretty harsh, as well :-)

To quite my 26 year old daughter, "Mom, you look ridiculous."

I had fab hair today after using it last night; am using now for heat for a PT. Am not sure if I will use it very often, because I'm so frugal (aka cheap) in some areas of my life (conserving energy being one), I don't like having my dryer on that long.
