Default Shea Moisture. .?

Do you guys think the Curl Enhancing Smoothie is better for Winter time or summer? (I know some people use it year
round) What are anti-humecant and humecants, and what what seasons are they better for? (Where I live it's Cold in the winter, hot and humid in the summer) .

Humectants are generally better during moderate dews. They pull water from areas of greater concentration to lower concentration

So if you live in an arid climate (with low dews), a humectant may actually pull moisture out of your hair and release it into the air. If you live in a very humid climate (high dews), the humectants may draw too much water from the air and into your hair, causing it to frizz.

High dews are more important than straight humidity % for assessing products. Try the Frizz Forecast on this site!

Thanks, my only problem is that it says it's an anti-humectant, but has vegetable glycerin. ..

I have noticed that about a few shea moisture products, but I think that because the glycerin comes after the various oils in the ingredients that the oils cancel out the humectant properties. I have been using both the curl and style milk and the coconut and hibiscus condish and have noticed less frizz with these products. So far I really like shea moisture and I plan to try many more of their products.

I live in hot TX where dew points & humidity are high in the summer. I use the Shea moisture curl smoothie & milk. And I have no frizz. I put the smoothie on my ends because it works like a sealer. The I use the milk on my hair from root to tip because the milk is a moisturizer. The on tip of that I use the Softee conditioning gel. My hair loves this summer conmbo. No frizz. If I use anything ill use the curl enhancing milk in the winter.

I recently discovered the SM Coconut Hibiscus Curl & Style Milk and I love it love it love it! Works really well for very high dews (summertime FL). It does have protein though, so bear that in mind. (I have fine hair.)

I think it is definitely about obtaining a balance. For instance, at one point I was layering 3 different gels as the summer season began. Each gel had glycerin in it and my hair 'poofed' like no other. So I think making sure a balance of moisture, emollients, etc. help you with sustaining frizz.

I agree samanthacurls. I was using the organic root stimulator twist & lock gel without a leave in or oil before & my hair was a big frizz ball. But now that I switched my gel & added a leave in, moisturizers, & oil no frizz.

I use Shea Moisture products and I want to try the style milk. I have heard great things about it. I use the deep cleansing shampoo, the moisture retention shampoo, the deep conditioning masque as conditioner, the curl enhancing smoothie, etc.

I agree with the other girls. Your hair looks great! I think the Curl Junkie cream is working great for you. How does it compare to SM in texture? Aside from it being lighter, I mean.

Kira, the smoothie works well for me between the dews of 30-58 if that helps. I haven't had to tackle humidity yet, thank goodness.
