Question about AG recoil curl activator and KCCC

I bought ag recoil off all the recommendations here mainly for frizz control in these high dews ( high 70s low 80s). But it is a disaster! Never was my hair more frizzy then with recoil, I used BRHG over it. Could it be the polyquats? ( my hair really hates those and I did not realize it is the second ingredient until after I bought it ).

Another question for those of you who use KCCC , is it the same as Shea moisture souffle? Are those two comparable? I love the souffle and it is the best frizz fighter for high dews but the product junky in me is itching to try it

As far as I know AG: Recoil cream has glycerin, a particularly problematic humectant for many in very high dews.

Though KCCC does not have glycerin, it has other humectants. I think this is what is causing your problems and you may need to look into glycerin-free, low-humectant products.

I don't think its the Glycerin , my hair loves it in all dews. I get my best hair with Shea moisture souffle and it is loaded with it.

My hair hates everything Deva curl and Curl Keeper,
What are the ingredients of the soufflé?

Here's the trick with glycerin... sometimes if it is listed in the middle of the ingredient list especially AFTER an anti-humectant, it can be ok, because I'm guessing the anti-humectant in higher concentration cancels out the humectant. Though I generally avoid glycerin in high dews, one product with glycerin that has worked for me is the Alba Botanica Leave-in. Glycerin is listed after coconut oil (an anti-humectant) and it has not given me problems. Many MoistureShea products have shea butter as a leading ingredient. Shea butter is an anti-humectant so it could be "cancelling" out the humectant properties of other ingredients, such as glycerin.

These are the ingredients that I found on AG Re:coil:

Water/aqua/eau, Polyquaternium-55, Hydroxypropyl Starch, Cetylalcohol, Stearalkonium Chloride, Stearyl Alcohol, Ceteareth-20, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glycerin, Corn Starch Modified, Cetrimonium Chloride, Salvia Officinalis (sage) Leaf Extract, Urtica Dioica (Nettle) Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Humulus Lupulus (Hops) Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Melissaofficinalis Leaf Extract, Achillea Millefolium Extract, Prunus Serotina (Wild Cherry) Bark Extract, Cymbopogonschoenanthus Extract, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Sodium PCA, Polyquaternium-10, Magnesium Sulfate, Silk Amino Acids, Cocodimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzedkeratin, Panthenol, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Tetrasodiumedta, Parfum/ Fragrance, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone.

Though I'm not familiar with all ove the ingredients above glycerin in the Re:coil cream (I'd have to do more research) I don't see any that immediately qualify as anti-humectants.

If the KCCC is also giving you trouble I think it's a humectant & high dew issue. I also tried KCCC in 70/80 dews and it did very little in terms of frizz control.

I would still recommend cutting humectant-rich products and staying off glycerin and seeing if the situation improves. My money is still on humectants!

However you're right, polyquats could be playing a role so it might be useful to cut those as well at one point to see if the situation improves. If you think it's polyquat buildup you'll need to clarify with a strong surfactant. Hope this helps!

I didn't find Re Coil anything worth using. The few times I used the SM Souffle, my hair wasn't good. First time I used KCCC, I had the best hair ever up until that time. I still use it on occasion and it's fine.

I hated Recoil... Made my hair terribly frizzy (this was before CG though) and I think maybe it's the magnesium sulfate? I found it kind of drying too.

As far as KCCC vs. the SM souffle... I highly prefer KCCC. It's been one of my old standbys (even before I started CG). I didn't like the souffle at all. I found it really oily and sticky but maybe I used it wrong. IDK.

Keep in mind I live in a very hot but very dry climate so I'm not sure how these perform in a humid climate.
2A/B. Mix of fine, medium, and coarse (mostly medium). Dense. Mix of normal and high porosity.
Dry climate.

Thanks, it makes sense that an anti humectant before glycerin cancels the effect of the glycerin.
But my hair still loves glycerin, I can not use curl keeper but regular lube works wonders and the only difference is that lube does not have polyquats. Polyquats just give me horrible build up and I try to avoid them at all cost. Have already clarified and gone back to my old routine

The KCCC sounds tempting but I don't know if I want to spend $16 just to find out it has the same effect as the souffle
