Hi, I'm new to this forum. I'm considering taking MSM for hair growth. I'm already taking biotin but I want to up my dose from 3,000 mcg to 5,000 mcg and add MSM supplement. In case someone may not know what MSM is, it stands for Methylsulfonylmethane and is a form of sulfur that can provide for collagen and keratin, essential for hair growth. It is also said to increase the hair growth phase ( anagen phase). MSM is an ingredient in Hairfinity, popular hair vitamins. But anyways, have any of you ladies tried msm? How has it helped your hair growth? What's your dosage?

Welcome! Please run any supplements past your family doctor or a registered dietician, megadosing can be harmful and set up imbalances with other nutrients.

If you want to have healthy hair, and be healthy overall, eat a good, varied diet, with plenty of fresh veggies and fruit. We buy into the idea of supplements as a quick fix, but there is no supplement in the world that will take the place of the nutrients in food. The point about imbalances is also a good one--nutrition doesn't exist in a vacuum. Nutrients have to work together for optimum benefit.
