How long before you noticed a difference?

In your hair after doing the CG way?

Immediately. Over time I noticed new changes and benefits, but there was an immediate improvement in my hair's look and feel.

My hair and scalp are very dry, though; I think if you've got to do a lot of adjusting because your scalp skin produces a decent amount of oil, then it can take more time to get the rhythm right. You have to wait for the oil production to adjust. Hang in there, though!

I noticed during the first week. More moisturized, better curl clumping and MORE curls than before. Now I only shampoo before I do a DT and only with HCC Jessicurl. That way I still can DT on clean hair without stripping what little natural oil I have.

It was pretty much immediate. Much less frizz, more defined curls, less flyaways. For the first month or so my hair was a bit limp. But then I figured out the right products and routines for me and it got it's bounce back.

My hair felt better...smoother, less frizzy and more moisturized right away. Unlike others here, I can't say that it has made my hair any curlier though. I've been CG for several years now and am just now starting to play around with styling products....I was always a no styler kind of girl before now.

Right away for me too in terms of my hair feeling more healthy, but it did take like 2 weeks for me to get more consistent results with styling it.

Very soon. I discovered curl I never knew I had . . . within a week, I was less frizzy and more curly. It only continued to get better after that.

It took me a little longer - about three weeks. If it weren't for being here and reading that some take longer, I would've given up.

Thanks

Ok here is what I did.I didn't wash my hair at all for 2 days. (Ok this kills me. I wash my hair every day.)Then last night following advice here I co washed with VO5 Tea therapy or whatever it's called. Smelled yummy.
THen I very carefully combed it through with a wide tooth comb. After that I blotted with a towel.Instead of my usual attack with the towel. And after my hair dried. It looked shorter. But the curls that had disappeard were there. AND there is this spot on the back of my head that is usually a ginormous frizzball no matter what I do and it wasnt there.Ok so there wasnt any style to it. But I was just happy not to see that frizz.Of course I woke up and my hair was a mess. But it was nice while it lasted. It is just awesome to know that there may be hope for my hair.LOL

As part of the CG routine you definitely should invest in a satin pillowcase. Makes a HUGE diference in second and third day hair. You'll notice a huge improvement as your hair doesn't experience all the friction it would from a regular cotton pillowcase.

Are you using a MF towel? IF you don't have one you could try an old T-shirt to blott and dry your hair, you could even use paper towels, regular towels cause frizz. Did you use any styling products, or only the V05? Is your hair long enough to pineapple? That would help for next day hair as well.

hi there, i dont know what got me started on my quest for curls, because for about a year i had been straightening my hair, then just before xmas '06 i got it cut to chin length and had been straightening, but then i woke up on that fateful morning and the curl fairies had really gone to town on my hair and i thought hang on a minute, so i washed my hair, towel dried it and put gel in it, and you know what, it looked great, something inside me just clicked, i went on the interent, bought myself a copy of curly girl, and i havent looked back since, i thought not poo-ing would be really difficult for me but it hasnt, i suffered with dry flaky intensly itchy scalp and that first time no pooing and just co-washing was a fantastic feeling! it has been 6 weeks on saturday that i went poo-less and i havent looked back since, and from the very beginning, i noticed a BIG difference, much much more curly, and this coming from someone who had lazy waves!!! keep going skyian, you WILL notice a difference, even if its a little difference! sorry about the long post, im just so passionate about curly hair now!

I started CG one afternoon when, in frustration at my frizzy hair, I went online for SOMETHING different. I started reading and got REALLY excited. I went and did my hair, and the difference was immediate. It continued improving in steps--for a while it would be the same and then I'd figure out another new trick and it would jump a level. Maybe someday I'll be COMPLETELY frizzless!
Haha. I know, dream on. But on my good days there is little to none!

It really can depend on the products you use.

My first attempt, with Jessicurl stuff, loved the products, but clearly they were not meant for me. It gave me a taste of the curls though.

I finally found some co's here that were CG - natures gate, giovanni, and one sole lonely bottle of V05 kiwi & lime (lol no price, no shelf tag, nothing... I think it was an interloper at the supermarket!!!!). My hair loves the kiwi & lime, and giovanni... natures gate I think will be a substitute at times. After a week of this, went to a party last night where I had people ooh-ing and aahhh-ing over my hair :D it looked sooooo good! Lots of volume (Its very thick anyway), lots of curl, a little frizz... but gorgeous shine :D I will never look back to the days of fluffy frizzy shapeless hair
