Since I'm newly CG, I just want to see how becoming CG has improved your hair. Also, if it has changed the way you used to feel about your hair.
I'm newly CG too but my hair has become curlier each time I wear it natural (I think it's about where it should be though)

Sent from my SGH-T999 using CurlTalk App
CG/LOC Method's 3b/3c hair SL-Curly/ Goal-MBL Curly
Weekly Poo/Low Poo: some Shea M Poo.
Weekly Deep Treat-Dermorganic Intensive Hair Masque
Bi-Weekly RO:Tresseme Naturals - V.Smooth/N.Moisture
Daily Leave in:Shea Moisture Extra Moisture Detangler
Daily Oil: Olive Oil & Conut Oil Mix
Daily Styler: Shea Moisture Curl & Style Milk
I feel that way too! When I first started I was wondering where my curls were that I remembered, but they're beginning to coil and become more 3c like they were when I was younger. Still working on the 3b sections near the front of my head though.

My curls really don't look any different. The main difference is my hair rarely ever feels dry anymore.
I've been strictly cg for 2 weeks so I don't see much of a change yet because I'm recovering from heat damage. I can tell that my curls in the back of my head are more defined but in the front the curls are looser & frizzy because of the heat damage.
My hair smells good instead of that awful burnt smell!!

I didnt start wearing my hair curly until I started CG. No way I would have went into public the way my curls looked before CG. For me its was more the technique to form curls than the condition of my hair.

Its been a 4 year journey for me to figure out exactly how to style my curls and what products work best. I had strayed from CG for well over a year and when I got my first Deva cut went back to full CG. For me the Deva cut is the only cut. It makes a huge difference for me. I spend less on Deva cuts because I dont have to cut as often. CG has made me love my curls.
I've been CG for about 5-6 weeks now?

I heat straightened for 8 years before and then decided to get a bob to wear my natural hair. I took in a picture of Karlie Kloss (deep down knowing I didn't have her hair type...or face for that matter!) and the hairdresser proceeded to thin out the "bulkiness" of my hair.

Not only did I leave with a bad haircut but I couldn't straighten it anymore. My hair, after thinning out, was almost non existent straight. So curly it had to be!

I came back to this site and forum (I visited a few months earlier already thinking of wearing my natural curl) and so far it's been an interesting journey. I think now my hair is finally behaving. Still testing all sorts of stuff. Just found out I'm allergic to Jojoba...hello rash all over face! Haha! My housemates think I'm mad!

It has made me feel more like myself though...curls make me feel like I can get away with more! Ha! Sometimes I want to straighten because I think maybe I looked better that way and then I have to wonder about my perception of beauty etc.
I've had some lovely feedback lately which has helped but I am yet to totally love my hair as it is. Although it's looking pretty good today! No frizz!
CG has absolutely transformed my hair. Before CG, I wore it in a ponytail 24/7 because I had no idea how to care for it, or how to get rid of the awful frizz. Now, every day (for the most part) is a good hair day and I wear it down 100% of the time. It has improved my self confidence and I feel my hair is now my best asset and get compliments all the time.

Loving my curls/waves!

Product loves: Chagrin Valley Shampoo Bars, ACV rinses, Suave Naturals Conditioner wash on in between days, silk scrunchies, Ouidad Curl refreshing spray, Avocado/olive oil/honey deep treatment, Coconut oil on ends/length

Currently waist length while wet and going for waist length while dry!
I find my hair works best when dirty and I feel curly girl brings out that best! All though I do not rinse with cold water I do everything else. Washing my hair with conditioner is such a habit . I find the cg has made my hair more manageable and definitely enhanced my curls

I actually hate my new hair! I am nearly 60 days into this and have literally had 2 good hair days! I'm craving a blow out, he!! I'm just craving decent, 'it looks like I did my hair today' hair. I am at a loss. I thought that I was on to a routine that was working for me, and now I feel like I am just back to square one all over again. I don't know how long I can keep going with this. I said I would commit to six months, but now I don't know. I have worn my hair curly for years before CG, but never ever did it look this bad!

Can you say more specifically what looks bad? What looks different? What you are using? People might have some suggestions.

Like Chloe92us I wore my hair in a 24/7 ponytail before, it was breaking in certain areas (mechanical damage) with mega porous lengths (chemical damage). Once I realised quite how badly damaged my hair was I pretty much wrote the first year off and didn't expect good hair just focussed on growing out the worst of the damage.

Now my hair is massively healthier, the dye doesn't fade or build up, I can go months without needing a trim due to dry ends only due to unevenness. I receive compliments and think the volume of wave/ curl suits my pin head better!! Lastly my skin is healthier without sulphates, I haven't had atopic eczema or contact dermatitis in over two years, my face and scalp are less greasy.

Enjoying the journey to long healthy beautiful hair!

Well I guess I'd try the opposite at least in that maybe try humectants. What
are your dew points? May try products with humectants but that are further down the list. Maybe try something with water soluble silicones.

I know you're going to up the protein (and possibly have already)... but if it's overconditioned you might try laying off the coconut oil soaks. I did them quite a lot in the beginning until my hair was in better condition, but now I don't really need them. Last time I did one was 2 months ago. I'm thinking of doing one now....for me it would just be waaaaaay too much for me to do weekly. I guess I thought there was some specific reason why you were doing so many so it didn't click that that could be the problem.... you could just be overdoing it.

ANYWAY sorry I'm adding... I don't think this is the right thread for this convo... we can discuss more on the thread you started!
