Hair is just WILD by midday

Hey ladies,
So check out this fro, nice right? Here's my problem. I've been using Deva products (Deva No Poo, One Condition, and Arc Angel for styling). It looks great in the morning- curls well and is not too big, but by midday it just turns huge. I ALWAYS want to pull it up then, and most of the time I do, but I'd really like your suggestions for how to tame/moisturize it. Is it dry? Not enough hold? What do you think?:-|

I have a similar problem. Mine is because I play with it too much though. Have you tried using the lavender spray to calm it down? Just a quick spray mid day?

It's really not that bad. Does it feel like it's dry?

I actually think it looks good! Do you know your hair properties? Without knowing those, it is hard to make recommendations.

It's not big at all!! But you can try a lavender spray or u can try the deva styling cream in place of the gel

What's your weather like? Have you checked the frizz forecast in the "care" section? My first thought is the Deva products have glycerin, and can spell pouf and frizz for some curlies in dew points over 60.

I thought that was the "before" picture.

I agree with Chloe. If it's humid where you are, watch out for humectants.

If that's your "wild" hair I'm officially too embarrassed to ever show my hair on a good day.

You guys are sweet- it actually looks a lot better in the picture than it does in real life. It's not insane, just annoys me to the point of always wanting to put it up. I bet the glycerin in the Deva products is the issue. My hair feels fine, but not very moisturized. It's also about 300% humidity here in VA, so that's not doing me any favors.

Any suggestions for different products?

I personally don't have issues with glycerin in my poos or rinse-out (just limit it in my stylers), so you're probably ok withe Deva NP & OC (just use a different leave in).

Since the humidity hit, I don't feel I really even NEED a LI, but when I do, I've been using Shescentit Okra reconstructor (has a lot of protein tho, so if you're truly coarse, it probably won't work for you), and recently CJ Beauticurls LI.

For cleansing conditioners, I'm obsessed with Curl Junkie Daily Fix. (Deva no poo is essentially a cleansing conditioner.)

For gels, all of them in my signature are glycerin-free (except the LA Looks mega gel, but it's really low on the ingredients list). I've been loving the cheap gels lately!

It's easy to get to the point of stressing over a few stray hairs or a bit of frizz. We are all so focused on our hair that we start noticing every little thing that's wrong rather then what's right. I'm not saying you can't improve your hair but after many months of focusing on trying to get my hair to be wavy & shiny & frizz-free I suddenly realized my hair looked good but I was nitpicking the little flaws rather then enjoying it.

What really helps me when I think I'm having a crappy hair day is to focus on other people's hair, it only takes scrutinizing a few co-workers frizzy, dull, flat ironed, etc hair to make me realize I'm not really doing so bad (obviously I don't tell them this, I do it in my head :)).

I agree with everyone else, your hair looks great, I was waiting for the "oops, here's the photo I meant to upload" post. :toothy3:
By all means work on improving your hair, but be sure to spend some time appreciating those clumpy, shiny curls whenever you can!

LOL... well good thing I don't work with you!

Haha, yeah that came out sounding harsh huh. Mostly I just meant that nobodies hair is perfect, it's easy to find something wrong if you're looking for it.
