PT on right now HELP!?

Like Tree7Likes

Hello,

I have aigirl's PT on right now. This is what i included in it:
1/3 cup water
1 packet knoxx gelatin
the vinegar (forgot measurement)
2 tsp coconut oil
1 tsp honey
1 tsp suave coconut conditioner

It says that i'm supposed to just rinse it out right? No lo-poo needed? what about the coconut oil, how do i get that out? I didn't realize this when i was adding the oil.

Wavydaze!!! Are you online?? You told me not to DT or condition after. How do i remove the oil!!
2b, Fine, Low density, Normal porosity.

Currently using but not sure if i'm loving:

Lo-poo: SM yucca
Co-wash: Suave Naturals Coconut
LI: SM yucca Milk, Suave Naturals Coconut
Gel: LA Looks Mega Hold (Green), LA Looks NutraCurl with Avocado

Sometimes I pixie diffuse, Always towel turban, Finally stopped touching while wet , Always SOTC, lose curl definition and get frizzy after a few hours.

Coconut oil comes out with conditioner, is that the ratio of conditioner to oil and other ingredients that others are using successfully or did you come up with that mix yourself?
2a-2c, medium texture, porous/ colour treated. Three years CG. Past bra strap length heading for waist.

CO-wash: Inecto coconut/ Elvive Volume Collagen
Treatments: Komaza Care Matani, coconut/ sweet almond/ fractionated coconut oils, Hairveda Sitrinillah
Leave in: Fructis Sleek & Shine (old), Gliss Ultimate Volume, various Elvive
Styler: Umberto Giannini jelly, Au Naturale styling gelee
Flour sack towel, pixie diffuse or air dry.
Experimenting with: benign neglect
Just rinse it well then apply a rinse out conditioner and/or leave-in. If it feels stiff or like there's still stuff in your hair when you rinse, then co-wash. If it still feels "stiff" then do a DT.
2C/ Coarse/ Normal porosity/ SW Florida/ Salt & Pepper
Cleanse: CJ Daily Fix, JC Cleansing Cream, TJ Tea Tree Condish
Condish: JC Too Shea, CJ Curl Rehab (both as RO & LI)
Stylers: UFD CM, CJ PP, JC Spiralicious, Darcy's Cream Gel & Cocoa bean whip

Optional add-ins:
1 teaspoon honey
yogurt
2 to 3 teaspoons of conditioner
coconut milk
use herbal tea instead of plain water
more vinegar if you fancy
more oil - up to 2 tablespoons of olive or coconut oil for dry hair, grapeseed or apricot kernel oil for less-dry hair
1 tablespoon aloe vera juice or gel (not with banana)
1/4 pureed banana (in a blender) - note, banana can be unpredictable, don't add any vinegar or acid with banana. Banana baby food works well.
1/16 or 1/8 teaspoon magnesium sulfate

I didn't know there had to be an actual 1:1 ration with conditioner and oil...

You should be fine. Let us know how it turns out! Don't leave it on too long if this is your first time!

I did it for the first time today too. I added just a pinch of citric acid and 1/2 teaspoon coconut oil. I know you used much more oil. I just rinsed with water and let the oil stay on my hair. It's still damp, but I don't think it's going to feel oily.

I'm not impressed...it did rinse right out with water alone. Then i added some suave naturals coconut as a leave in and scrunched in my lalooks gel. Here are pictures of different angles and lighting. The last picture is before i sotc.

Eta: it doesn't look bad at all, but i don't see a drastic difference.

If your hair is lacking in protein it may take a few treatments to see a difference. I did one a couple of days ago, and I think I should have done a DT after because my hair was a little rough. My hair likes protein in products, but protein treatments need some extra moisture. Maybe next time I'll add conditioner to the mix.

The instant gratification you get with commercial deep treatments is often silicones, anything that is truly working on hair at a deeper level by patch repairing or penetrating may take multiple treatments to take effect, remember hair is dead.

Now I'm confused, because the gelatin PT directions say to leave on as little as 3 minutes. I did that and saw a big difference in my hair.

You won't get much if any aBsorption in that time, but you might well get aDsorption, how much highly variable due to the differences in our hair. My hair eats protein at the moment, but I do have chemical treated/ damaged hair so that is not surprising. No doubt some would be quickly overproteined with the same regime.

Furthermore gelatin is not a homogenous substance, some brands will be smaller and some larger molecules. There will also be variation in the recipes used: which conditioner, how much of the additives, how thick or thin we spread the mix and so on. Some will be applying after an anionic shampoo, some after a cationic conditioner wash ....

Thanks, Firefox. As usual, it's all more complicated than how I wish it would be.

Update: So i did the pt about 8 or 9 hours ago. I found my hair was more curly, less wavy, a little more flat not as puffy and voluminous, and slightly less frizzy.

Now, its kinda frizzy but its been all day...I'll continue doing protein filler in my ro and li and another pt next week.I'll also leave it on longer next time. The instructions said to only leave it on for a short time if its your first time, that's why i only did 15 minutes.

Here are my right now pics, the last pic is terrible. I have really low density hair and i have a terrible cut but I'm trying to grow it out. Oh well, you got what you got!

Janicke, I think your hair looks really nice!

I already PMed you. I would just recommend next time doing the simple gelatin PT w/ no add-ins.... see how you like it. It will be more a more "clean" PT, instead of a mixed PT/DT with all the oils and conditioner. You can use RO after the PT.
