Second Day Hair and Diffuserinf Questions

Hey guys! I had a few questions.

Firstly, I've discovered that using a diffuser makes my hair so much curlier than allowing it to air dry. I usually plop first and then diffuser on a low speed and heat setting. My concern is that it is still heat and even though may diffuse twice a week, should I still be using a heat protectant? If so, are there any all nature/CG ones?

Secondly, I have the worst luck with second day hair. I pineapple over night andvthen spritz my hair with a lavendar spray in the morning. I squeeze/scrunch the curls back and my looks ok, but it is so frizzy!! Any suggestions for better second and possibly third day hair?

Thanks!!

Just keep the heat low (I alternate between medium and cool shot for example) and don't dry all the way. Some CG ingredients do protect - hydrolysed protein, glycerin and propylene glycol.

For second day hair, I am wondering if the action of you squeezing and scrunching after using the lavender spray is actually initiating frizz. Do you use gel? If so, maybe using a small amount of water the next day will revive your curls. You could also try an oil. I use coconut oil on my second day hair.

I don't know my properties. I've pretty much been using trial and error. I've been CG/mod-CG for about 8 years off and on depending on my hair's length.

You may be right, though. Meeting with my hair may be causing it to frizz. I don't really use a gel, per se. I currently use Spiral Solutions Curl Enhancer and the gelee. Sometimes I use Herbal Essences Spray In Gel.

Yes, there are CG heat protectants, Aveda Brilliant Damage Control and Curly Hair Solutions ReMane Straight being two of them which work well.

I don't use a heat protectant when I diffuse on low heat and low speed. I don't dry my hair until it feels dry. IME, letting the moisture in your hair equalize with the moisture in the air as it finishes drying naturally helps to prevent frizz.

I think that spritzing your hair may be the problem. It was for me. I find that if I spritz my hands, then sandwich my hair between them, and quickly run my hands down the length of my hair, then scrunch, I have much better results. I routinely get several day hair, and often find that second and third day hair is better for me than first day. (FWIW, I usually wash my hair and apply styling products in the evening, go to bed with wet hair, wake up with the crunch mostly scrunched out, and consider that Day 1.)
