Hair without product?!

Is this just me? But when your hair dries without any product whatsoever, does your hair just dry as a big frizzball?! It seems to just go poof... :cwm21:

kleinehexe 07-14-2013 03:57 PM

No, sorry. Mine doesn't much. I get some surface frizz but the hair underneath is not frizzy.

Luuuuucy 07-14-2013 04:08 PM

Oh heck yes. I think that's common. If you don't get frizz, you're in the very lucky minority!

hambo02 07-14-2013 06:29 PM

yesss huge problem for me. if i plan to put it up that whole day i just use a leave in and an oil or i dont even wet it all all and keep it up from the night before.

Starmie 07-15-2013 07:41 AM

Not just you - big frizzball here too!

chloe92us 07-15-2013 07:45 AM

Yep. Big poof here.

Firefox7275 07-15-2013 08:23 AM

That is normal AFAIK. We strip our hair's natural defrizzing agent/ 'conditioner' (sebum) when washing so need to replace that with something. You also have long hair, hair that is a couple of years old wouldn't see much sebum and has lost a lot of its protective cuticle through normal weathering mechanical damage so certain products and ingredients help patch repair that.

CurlyInTheFog 07-15-2013 01:54 PM

Oh, yes. Big poof, although I'd say the frizz looks more like all the individual strands separating from the curl and trying to float away--which I guess is more or less what frizz is, except it's like all my hair, lol. It looks like I have about four times as much hair as usual.

Critical words: "can be." Ha! Probably works best with coarse hair. Fine hair looks like its trying to escape.

Dew points will play the most important role for me here. In moderate dews? No problem. My naked hair looks totally fine.

High dews? Ultimate frizzball olympics!

My wavy-curly hair does a Diana Ross if I dry comb, it looks amazing but not for very long, some bits start reclumping and others don't. Might be able to get away with that look because I have unnatural bright pink-red hair, it probably looks more deliberate than for someone with 'normal' looking hair!

I always feel like my hair is trying to kill me if it's not controlled in some way or other. It's bad enough at this length (just below shoulder), but longer I swear it really is trying to get me. I'm all about weighing that sucker down.

I want pink Diana Ross hair! Well maybe...not sure I could live with it 24/7:)

I've been CG for only about two months. The whole time I've been doing all the new things I've learned, like applying product to wet hair, and scrunching and plopping, and diffusing, etc. Two days ago the fan on my AC went out, and last night when it was time to shower, it was just too hot for me to consider turning on a hair dryer and too late for it to dry before I went to bed. I decided to just forget about it and wear it back in a bun today, so I went back to the "old ways". I didn't use any shampoo, and I still applied a ton of conditioner, but I didn't use any leave-in or styling products. I even put my hair up in a turban -- no plopping.

What a learning experience! All along I've been seeing gradual changes to my hair, but this really showed that things have changed a lot. Some of it dried really quickly, which never happened before. And it was very fluffy and soft. I could still see the curls I've gained but they had no definition without product. And today the frizz halo escaping from the bun is considerable. I plan on doing a PT tonight, which I wasn't even thinking of doing before. I think from now on I'll periodically just leave it alone to better assess the situation. I think my styling products have been so effective they've hidden how my hair really is.

Back when I had had longer hair (mid-back) and all one length, I would flip my head upside down and brush my hair, then flip it back up to see how big it would get. It would definitely give Diana Ross a run as far as sheer size is concerned, but without any curl. It was more of a Roseanne Roseannadanna look. :D

Ericachristina 07-22-2013 01:58 PM

Mine isn't too bad, I don't have much frizz without product and I don't mind the volume
