Exclamation Curly hair and rollercoasters?

How the heck does one keep their hair from turning into a mushroom cloud? Just wondering. . . I know I should wear it up maybe but every time I do an updo my hair never feels secure to begin with. I was thinking a braid but that might whack me in the face. And what if a bobby pin flies out of my hair and hits somebody else? Okay. . . maybe I'm overthinking it.

Silk scarf? Like stylish young ladies used to wear when open top cars were the latest thing last centuries.

I say relax and rock the mad, crazy hair! What better excuse than having a blast on a summer day riding roller coasters? Take a clip w you for afterwards if it drives you nuts. I wouldn't think it through more than that. Have fun! I love coasters.

I absolutely dread coasters but I do try them if a have the guts to do it. My coaster-proof hairstyles are a pony tail or a french braid. It's unlikely that a french braid will wack you in the face. Don't worry about bobby pins - the G-forces will make sure they stay secure in your hair.

Curious to see what you did with your hair. Picture?

If you do a silk scarf, ordinary silk scarf won't work. It has to be silk chiffon to cling to the hair.

I have the same attitude about roller coasters as I do beaches. It's more important in that experience to enjoy what you're doing, than care about your hair. Chill out and have fun...that's all I got .

Claudine and Laura, maybe you'd change your minds if you were with moi. Weathercurl and I could drag you along, kicking and curling. . .

I'll let you guys know what I ended up doing. Still haven't decided yet. Still a bit afraid of the braid. Now I'm afraid my hair might get caught on something too. I'm thinking low pony perhaps. . . probably easiest.

I have a big France Luxe claw clip that will hold like a rock, so I'd probably just twist a pony and clip it up, but anything with your hair pulled back would work. I just got a silk snood from Etsy that covers your whole head--I got it so I could work in the yard if the wind is blowing hard--but I don't suppose you have time to order one, haha.

I hope you have/had fun! Your hair will be fine--sometimes fun is more important than hair (gasp! it's true!).

Dusalocks, I'd love to join you but there really is no guarantee that I'll actually go on a coaster. I usually try wooden coasters though, but if anything's too high (like Goliath in the Netherlands), I'm way too scared. I tried to try that one but once I was in the cart I ran out of it as fast as I could, haha.

However, I think it would be a great day regardless! With lots of pretty (wild) curls

Girl, ride that coaster and after flip over, shake from the roots and go. Think about the volume!! Enjoy the day because no-one will notice your hair if you don't!

Speak of the devil, it was raining yesterday so we didn't wind up going. (Not my doing, I pointed out to my friend that it's awesome to go to the park when it's raining because there's no line. But the majority of Southern Californians act like a light drizzle is the end of the world.) But it's okay. We did something else and we pushed the park to next week when the weather was more clement. Now you guys have got me thinking I could use extra product for crunch and just let the coaster shake it out. . .

Could you forward me the link to that snood? I remember reading about them in that hairband thread and thinking man, I would rock the hell out of that thing. SO CUTE.

Not to scare anyone, but did you guys hear about that women at a Texas Six Flags who slipped out of her seat and fell a bunch of stories to her death? It was a freak accident of course. But very sad. Claudine and Laura, I'd still love to have you along though. Maybe we could hit Disneyland instead of Six Flags. How awesome would it be if there was such a thing as a "curly day" at the amusement parks? We could all ride the tallest rides and rock the biggest hair together. . . Curlies get in half off!
