Default Received my hair analysis

I must say that my results arrived very very quickly. It's been about 2 weeks maybe. I thought it took 4-6.

So, as i suspected I have fine hair. Although, comparing my strands to other people tell me i have medium hair, but I'll leave that to the curl whisperer.

I have normal porosity and normal elasticity. I had no clue about either of those so I'm glad i did the analysis.

She recommends regular PT, which I'm already doing and products with protein. So, my current products are pretty much on point except i may experiment with different stylers.

She suggested i try mousses, light to medium hold gels (I'm currently using a mega), and curl enhancing creams.

My current products are:
NG biotin shampoo
Suave naturals coconut conditioner as a Co wash
NG biotin conditioner as a leave in with some protein filler
Desert essence jojoba as a sealer (she said syrums could way my hair down, not sure if I'll omit this step)
Sallys volumax mega hold styling gel

Any suggestions are always appreciated!

::high five:: hair sibling!

Your routine looks good. I too thought I had medium hair because my hair was in between my roomate's baby-fine hair and my fiancÚ's coarse hair. Turned out mine was fine too. Even though I wasn't baby fine, I was still on the fine side, so maybe a 3 on the CJ scale?

Have you seen Tiffany's pinterest? She has some recs for fine hair. HTH http://pinterest.com/curlwhisperer/

I have the same properties (fine/normal/normal). I still like strong hold gels, but I found that thinner gels seem to weigh down my hair much less (thick clumpy gels will pull my hair more towards waves, while a more liquid gel will give me more curls). I also focus on using lots of protein- I've actually tried to overdose on protein and it didn't work.

Hmmm that makes sense the Polymers in gels pull the hair together, a gel that more watered down and includes humectants probably can't do that as efficiently. The one positive thing I got out of CIAB was knowing my hair loves my gels watered down. I dilute my current one as I apply it. Also, gels aren't like creams for me. The majority of the gel evaporates, so most "heavy" gels dry light anyway. A heavy cream, is a heavy cream.

I wouldn't get to caught up in the gel label. Some gels, especially the natural ones, are labeled strong hold and aren't. Some like PP are considered light-medium, but have strong hold...at least in my personal experience. It's best to read reviews to get a better idea of hold. Unfortunately it's almost impossible to tell by ingredients. Most gels have their ingredients in similar order. The quantities don't differ enough to change the list.

Aaand another hair sibling!

I'm still experimenting but I have definitely upped the protein since I'm sure I am fine-haired

I have 2a waves on my top layer and 2c 3a curls on my under layer.
A few hours post sotc its really obvious. Maybe trying a different gel will change this? Or do you think it is what it is?

I also have low density but i don't think this has anything to do with maintaining curl.

I don't mind my waves i just wish they looked nice. They tend to look stringy and a bit frizzy. Also they stick out. I can't get a soft wave look.

Coincidentally I got my results back today, too! Same as you--fine, normal, normal, although my density is high.

I just recently came to the realization that my hair was probably medium to fine. A long time ago someone told me I had coarse hair, so I just took it as gospel and all these years thought it was true, which explains why I've so often had limp and flat hair.

I've never avoided protein, but never went out of my way to use it either, so I guess I'll have to start paying more attention and doing actual PTs. Right now my routine is pretty simple, but I love playing around with products so will be looking for new things to try. I do like/need really hard hold gels, so any suggestions for other than what I'm using now would be appreciated. I'm working on putting together a samples order for KathyMack so a long list of ideas is fine!

Fine normal normal here too, Medium density. I have mostly 2c - with 3a up front, and 2a/b underneath. We just might be the coolest group here!

I see you use Darcy's Pumpkin Seed. Does it really smell like pumpkin pie? It looks like great stuff, but I hate pumpkin pie and can't stomach the thought of it on my head--please tell me it smells like something else!

Yes, it pretty much smells like pumpkin. To me, it's divine but I love foodie smells (all I wear is pure vanilla perfume). The flowery or botanical scents make me gag, lol.

Off topic: could you give me info on your perfume? I've been searching for vanilla but most are still too perfume-y for me (wicked allergy headaches/coughing) thanks!

You can buy vanilla from a supplement type store. It's usually extracted in jojoba. You just can just dab it on.

Now Foods Vanilla, 1 fl oz Oil

If you go to the livecurlylivefree website you can buy it off there with paypal. They send you the instructions in a pdf. You basically pluck a few individual hairs out of several sections of your scalp. Mail them in, and then a few weeks later they'll email your results.

I'm the wrong person to ask - I am anosmatic.. which means I can't smell. I don't like pumpkin pie but I can't help you on the scent part. I'd be happy to send you some conditioner in a zippy bag! pm me if you'd like some!
