help for stubborn hair

Im at the end of my ropes and need some serious advice. I would say my hair is 2a and my properties are fine, med density, and normal porosity according to my hair analysis. On with my problem I can neither get my hair to look good wavy with lots of time and energy or just letting it do its own thing. Either way it dosent look wavy or straight it just looks messy and unbrushed. While it is easier to style it straight than all the effort i put into it to get it to look slightly wavy. Dont get me wrong there have been times when everything must align and i get wavy hair that looks good but they are very very few and far between.

On to my problem i am getting very weary and frustrated at the time and effort i put into my hair to get to the potential that is there. It drives me nuts because i can definately see my wave pattern but then it ends up messy after it dries. I have tried
all the tecniques and products and no go. No matter which products i use i get the same results yuk! I keep getting more products from girls on here that have the same properties as me and im about to give up. Should i just go back to styling my hair straight? At least i get more consistant results. Please help

my wave pattern starts low on my head just around my ears. very loose long stretched out s waves kinda like a finger wage but really loose. im growing it out and its a little past my shoulders. I have have some layers that are a little uneven an some hit in the middle of a wave and flip out. It drives me crazy hopefully when i get it close to one length it will be more uniform. My waves are very fickle it dosent take much for them to loose their shape very weak. when im outside with my hair up the ones around my neck shrink up into perfect little ringlets i wish my hair did that!

I have a baad picture but am not sure how to post it. It was from a while ago whith longer hair and different cut. Okay i will get on posting a picture asap. Chuppie your hair is lovely and you videos are awesome!
Your hair actually sounds a LOT like mine. Sometimes for us part of the issue is accepting a weak wave. Do you ever use a hard gel? For me to get lasting wave (and that's for the day. I don't get second day hair without some real wetting and scrunching) I need to top with something like Biosilk Rokj hard gel or Aussie instant freeze. And I HAVE to diffuse or I won't get much bounce. Another product I've had good luck with is Moroccanoil Curl Control mousse. Yesterday I used it over Spiral Solutions Curl Enhancing Jelly and no hard gel but I got nice loose wave. Pretty and shiny.

Key key key is whatever you do just don't touch until its bone dry. You just can't. Here is what I started with in march help for stubborn hair-imageuploadedbycurltalk1374540316.600908.jpg

Here is a couple days ago. help for stubborn hair-imageuploadedbycurltalk1374540390.064340.jpg

A lot of what is helping me is more length. Long waves don't show off until the length is there.

Here is yesterday trying no hard top coat (and messing with bangs. Ignore that) help for stubborn hair-imageuploadedbycurltalk1374540518.037870.jpg

I have those floppy things too. I can't wait for that layer to grow out.

Anyhow maybe some ideas and perspective for you.

chupie i have tried lots of stuff on ground but not alot of the products that are on curl mart. brhg,ag recoil, deva products, herbal essence gel, got 2b spiked up gel, curly sexy hair spray foam, aubrey b5 gel, kiss my face gel,eco styler, redken soft spin gel and numerous mousses. Thats just the tip of the iceburg. What do you do for 2nd day hair? Do you put your hair up at night, have you had any sucess with any oils, how many products do you use at one time? Sorry for the drilling questions. Also i like to air dry but my hair takes 4ever to dry and i hate going out with my hair looking wet and krispy. any suggestions
I HAVE to diffuse. Air drying just leads to nothing. Little flipping ends. Generally for hair like my avatar I use a light gel like Spiral Solutions Curl Enhancing jelly or Jessicurl Rockin Ringlets (Pretty much flax seed gel). That helps smooth and give a base. Then a definer like a curl creme or lotion. Like Jessicurl confident Coils or the Moroccanoil Curl mousse or HETT creme or Deva B'leave In. Then top with BRHG. I'd say the best for me have been the mousse and B'leave In.

This week I'm trying less. Like yesterday I did just SSCEJ and the mousse. It was soft and shiny and not as much bouncy curl but that were more of the rock wave. Today I woke up with flat hair so I took a Deva glove and got it wet and scrunched up the length. Got a bunch of wave back and the scrunched it with a mf towel and scrunched in just a little Aussie gel. Diffused. It came out nice! I always have to either re-wet, sprizt down or something and scrunch the waves back in.

Recently I've also discovered a product I hated is really pretty awesome. I had bought Deva Set up and Above my first or second week. Used as described it just did nothing. The other night everything was falling flat and I took a liiittle bit of that and rubbed it on my palms and scrunched up the ends with it and boy it fluffed everything back and brought out the wave definition again.

I also do a side ponytail and spritz the tail a little scrunch it (maybe adding some definer like b'leave in) and scrunch the waves up and diffuse it.

I think of it as a big experiment. And if it comes out awful scrape it into a bun.

Oh and I do like coconut oil overnight and washed out or occasionally smoothing some argan oil over the top.

I also LOVE Kinky Curly knot Today. I only lightly rinse it out. And I sometimes put Spiral Solutions Caitlin's conditioner on the very ends as leave in, especially if I'm using something with magnesium sulfate in that might dry them out a little. There is pretty much nothing by Spiral Solutions I don't like. I have a sample of the SS Emollience that's super oil filled and use barley any rubbed on my hands to SOTC. And condition only styling has come out great for me. I don't know if you've seen that video?

Frankly it takes as much work to get my hair to do this help for stubborn hair-imageuploadedbycurltalk1374553472.153986.jpg
As make it wave. The only advantage is second day is better. But by then the ends are starting to turn. I have more fun with the wavy stuff.

Sorry last post (I keep seeing stuff I didn't answer) I've gotten to where I like my 80% diffused look enough I don't mind wearing it until it completely dries. Other gals in my office also do that. It seems fine. Like this help for stubborn hair-imageuploadedbycurltalk1374553918.545827.jpg and later it looks like this help for stubborn hair-imageuploadedbycurltalk1374553960.897133.jpg

You might consider trying FSG (flax seed gel). It's completely natural and tends to enhance waves and curls very well. It moisturizes at the same time.

A lot of people who use it enjoy 2nd and 3rd day hair, if that's something you're also looking for. Also, with FSG you don't have to worry about any product sensitivities (protein, glycerin, "silicone" etc.). It seems to work on all curl types and with any combination of hair properties.

You can find some truly helpful links about it by doing a basic search on this site. Good luck.
