Default I FINALLY got second day hair!!!

Guys.

Guys, I did it.

Finally.

I just got up and checked out my hair... and HAD to come tell you all.

SECOND. DAY. HAIR>

So for those who don't know my hair woes: fine, grumpy 2c/3a curls that take everything personally. I can't expect them to last into the second day because they just get flat, and lose all curl and shine.

But then, I ordered a SILK sleep cap from ebay. It's not fancy. I probably could've made it, in retrospect!! Thin silk + elastic.

Last night, I piled my hair in there (no pineapple, just plopped it into the cap), and woke up this morning with some outta-control volume and super bouncy curls. A little fuzzy in the back where the elastic rubbed against my hair, but if I pull my hair into a half-up, you'd never know.

So! Proof that the silk sleep cap works! Wahooooo!!! This is gonna save me SO much time.

My next project: to see if curls stand up to being plopped in the sleep cap + squished into a bike helmet for my morning commute. Is it possible I'll have nice hair for work!?

Prior to this did you use a silk or satin pillowcase? I have been thinking of ordering a sleep cap because pineappling doesn't work for me, but I wondered if it made much of a difference versus just having a silk or satin pillowcase?

Good for you though!

crazywaves, I have a satin pillowcase and a silk one. I find them interchangeable.

curlytwirlykate, I'm rocking great second day hair too and I'm pleased I'm not the only one coming on here all excited. #Hairnerds!

Yes to the silk AND satin pillowcases! Neither of them seemed to make such a difference for me -- my hair still got squished, even if I tried to pineapple. The sleep cap seems to be a holy grail in comparison (though time will tell... hoping this wasn't just beginner's luck!)

Good for you! So nice when something works. Second day hair is a fight I gave up a long time ago.

I got one at Sallys for $7 or so. It falls off my head at some point in the night but I am all over the place. I find it to be better than without it at all.

I use a silk cap and a silk pillowcase (because one can never overdo it, haha), and yep, second day hair every time. The silk seems to not only prevent frizz, but also reduces any leftover from the previous day. I always have less frizz in the morning.

As a decent alternative, the Stay-on Satin bonnets you can get at Walmart aren't bad. Not as good as silk, but they're cheaper. If you want a really nice silk bonnet, Blensblend has them in different lengths and the silk is very good quality. Pretty Antoinett's also has nice bonnets.
