No curls at the root.

Okay ) here's the deal. I'm very particular about what I put in my hair. i usually use natural products, and it works great. All except one Thing I cannot stand. My hair doesn't curl all the way to the root. I know this is constant of my curl pattern, but I hate it. Does anyone know of something I could use to give it a push to help it curl up towards the roots?
Thanks
Not really... I don't have much root curl either. Plopping does help my curl, and it does allow for root curl for some pieces. I've found clipping takes out what little root curl I have. Diffusing helps with curl overall, and if I airdry NO TOUCHING. However "no touching" gives me flat hair, unless I clip, which takes out root curl. Sorry, doesn't seem to be an easy answer.
fine - normal porosity*?- medium density - normal elasticity. Hard water. SoCal.
*Used to be low-porosity, but I lightened my hair 1-2 shades, so I may be normal-porosity now.

New climate! Current favorites:

I did the plopping this yesterday, it helped a little. I don't touch my hair much while its drying. I absolutely cannot use a hair dryer though.:/ to much frizz from years of not
Caring about my hair:/ thanks for the comment though
I don't mean regular blowdrying - using a diffuser attachment and on low wind and low heat... it shouldn't cause extra damage provided the heat is low. Try pixie diffusing!

I use a diffuser. Unfortunately it still causes loads of extra frizz. I use the coolest setting my dryer has. Do you have a recommendation for a dryer? Mine was a cheapo one from wal-Mart.
I don't know what to suggest re: blowdryers I've only had cheaper ones and can't really tell a difference.

The only thing I'd suggest is making sure your curls are set before pixie diffusing... that should help with the frizz but I know I've seen some people on the boards who say they really can't do it w/out frizz. I know there's a soft-hood bonnet thread around here.... that may be of interest to you.

Did you try actually pixiecurl diffusing? It's a different technique and really does help to minimize frizz--I'm very frizz-prone and get virtually none with pixiecurl. I also have to use a lot of gel to get a hard hold and minimize frizz. If by "natural" you mean "homemade only," you can try playing around with a FSG or okra recipe to get a decent hold. If you don't mind buying products, Max Green Alchemy makes a good hard hold gel.

For root curl consider a shorter haircut, do everything upside down from washing to drying, don't touch at all whilst air drying, might try the Curly Hair Solutions roller jaw clamps. Ingredients like hydrolysed protein and magnesium sulphate (epsom salts) can help boost curl.
