Smile I finally got volume and curl at the roots!

Alright, so you know those clips that you put in your roots that make you look like a total ALIEN while you have them on? Yeah well I finally have an alternative, and its so simple! Im sure most of you probably do this already, but I didn't before! Also it makes my hair curlier at the roots which I like! Oh and it prevents product buildup, too!

Before I had my hair parted already when I did the conditioner, I was basically running it through my hair straight down. What I tried was to actually use the conditioner starting at the roots and then push it back. Like, as if your going to put your hair in a ponytail... just make the top of your hair all going towards the back with no part. Then, after you finish your shower and get changed, part your hair and push the pieces towards the front, back in their usual position. You now have tons of volume and curls at the roots! Not to mention, you can put conditioner in starting at the roots (Usually your told only to do the bottom!) without getting weird product buildup, so it help hydrates the top of your head and prevent frizz!

I hope this helped you!

I'm definitely going to try this. The hair at the top of my head always turns out with only a slight wave.

I tried this morning, and it worked pretty well. I think I can only get so much curl near my roots because of my length, but thanks for the tip.

I having a difficult time visualizing. So your hair's in a pony in the shower and then you rinse and then push the hair forward out of the shower?

So you basically condition upside down and then flip your hair back and arrange it. Hmm..I do that, doesnt help a lot but you know I have that coarse LP hair..

No, more like as if you were going to put it in a ponytail, not actually tied up just kinda slicked back so all your hair is towards the back

I'm not sure I understand. Is the idea to get most of the conditioner on the ends and much less on the top? I really want to try anything that will help me get root curl and volume up top.

By lifting the hair on top away from your scalp, you can condition it thoroughly without making your scalp too oily. The conditioner sort of helps that hair to curl as much as possible.

Ok I understand what you mean. Unfortunately I don't think that would help me... I just don't have to curl pattern with any root curl. Plopping does help me a lot with the few face-framing pieces that have a bit of root curl though!

Sorry for my igno, but what is "LP" hair? Just tryin' to learn....

Also, I have tried the upside down scrunching of LI and/or gel into my hair and then gently flipping my hair back right-side up after -- looks great when it's still wet, but it looks messy and frizzy when it dries. So what's your secret, if you don't mind sharing, on how to keep the volume at roots without frizz?

Low Porosity - hair that tends not to absorb product very well , so it can be weighed down rather easily.
