CG-approved volumizing foam/mousse recs

Hi all,

I recently got my hair cut by a deva specialist and she styled it with the Deva volumizing foam. While it felt a little producty, I loved the way it made my curls look! They were thick, defined, and frizz-free. I'm not sure if I want to get into the habit of spending that much money on product though. Does anyone have any other recommendations for a good CG-approved foam/mousse that would give me similar results?

I'm 3a, fine, on the high end of porosity and relatively low density

Giovanni Naturals air charged mousse (something like that) is a dupe for the Deva mousse, only more moisturizing and without the producty feel. I love it. It's the same watery foam consistency. Found at Walmart for $8. I have the Deva mousse too and don't like it nearly as much as the Giovanni.

I got some great results with Shea moisture yucca and baobab volume line.

Thanks so much! :)

Turquoise, is there a foam/mousse in the SM volumizing line?? What's it called?

Bed Head totally baked is less expensive and has the same texture. Smells like lemon meringue yum!!! Foams don't do much for me though. I have both and they seem similar.

Vidal Sassoon makes a pretty nice mousse. I think it's effectively volumizing...which is something my hair does not need.

Thanks and thanks! I saw that TIGI Totally Baked stuff but I wasn't sure if it was CG approved or not - still new to being ingredient-conscious.

The bed head has a water soluble cone, so it depends on how strict you want ti be. Sorry, should have mentioned that!

Myrna, not a mousse but a great shampoo , milk and volume spray

I have DermOrganic Foam and like it.

Jane Carter wrap and roll is a mousse- CG approved.

Ondulee 07-25-2013 01:47 PM

does anyone know how Jane Carter wrap n roll compares to Deva Frizz free foam?

I liked the Deva foam but would like to try the Jane Carter as the beauty supply down the street carries it and not the Deva Foam.

Myrna 07-25-2013 04:41 PM

Hey, yeah, where does one get the Jane Carter product? Have I seen JC products in a quick run through Target? I like Deva also, but its pricey!

Samanthascurlz 07-26-2013 06:39 PM

I can't personally compare it to the Deva mousse. But you can get the JC Wrap and Roll at Target or her website. Also try Amazon too.

I have great results with it , especially root volume, it is very watery and I don't care for the smell ( but it fades fast), it does not have hold for me so I top it with gel

stefflg79 07-28-2013 09:22 AM

Myrna- how did you like the mousse?

Myrna 07-28-2013 09:46 AM

Still evaluating. I used it yesterday for t he first time, but I just used one pump - today I used 3 over CK. Will let you know!

Myrna 07-28-2013 05:53 PM

reporting in on Giovanni foam.

used it today, again, over CK and I used more. Now: the humidity is 50% and the dews are 49% according to the frizz forecast, and I have "tricky" curls in this, also according to the frizz forecast.

But I had great hair today. I used SM coconut hibiscus and TN conditioner with a touch left in. I think I could have used a bit more of the foam at the crown. I will try that tomorrow, as t he weather is supposed to be warmer, but the frizz forecast about the same. If Giovanni works well for me, I can forego the Deva foam, which is pricey. I dont notice a smell with Giovanni foam. My curls are well defined and have a lot of movement. Nice.
