Default Pet peeve about the thread notification, pay attention, NC IT!

Sheesh, I have been holding on to this for a LONG time. In the thread notification: Why is the first choice "No email notification"?? if we are posting, dont we want "Instant email notification"?? Just sayin'...

I totally agree. It should default to notify you. Who doesn't want to know when someone hasn't responded to your post?

Because a lot of people don't want more emails--heck, I want less, not more! If I want to check subscribed threads, I just use Quick Links and do it that way. It actually makes sense that the default should be the least obstrusive, so that you have to actively choose if you want notification.

I agree! I try to limit my emails as much as possible. I'm on here enough, so if I see the thread was bumped, I know to look at it again.

I have it set to automatically subscribe me with no email, so I see all the threads I've participated in under my control panel or subscribed threads in tapatalk. I don't want email!

I don't want email notification either, so for me it makes sense to have it the first option.

I would love to have email notification as a default...
Maybe NC could make it optional and accountspecific? So that you can choose whichever works best for you as a default?

There's already a setting in the UserCP to set the default thread subscription mode. On the left, under Settings and Options, choose Edit Options. Then, under Messaging & Notification, find Default Thread Subscription Mode. You can choose instant email, daily email, weekly email, no email, or not to subscribe at all.

Subscribing in this case refers to threads in the CurlTalk message board. If you're a member here, you can subscribe to any thread you want by using the Thread Tools (teal bar), then choosing Subscribe to thread. When you subscribe, nc.com sends you an email when someone posts to that thread, and you can choose how often you get an email notification (immediately, daily, weekly, or not at all).

You also (usually) get automatically subscribed to any thread you post in. If you look at my earlier post in this thread, you'll see how to edit that default setting to suit your preferences.
