Pixie Cut Help?

Hey everyone ! I've been using nc for about three or four years now, just taking in all the info you ladies have been offering. It's helped change my regimen and products but couldn't change the irreversible heat damage I had. I recently got a big chop, hated it, then got another big chop lol. It's now cut pretty short all around but the top section is long. Sort of like this http://media.concreteloop.com/wp-con...eaven-sent.JPG ..I feel somewhat lost about styling because my main goal was to cut off all my heat damaged hair so my curls can come back to life when my hair grows out. My issue is when I leave my hair natural, the sides tend to poke up because the hairstylist did not shave them down short enough. I wanted to avoid flat ironing it all the time because I'm scared I'll end up with the heat damage again (I'm insanely traumatized & careful now lol). Styling is a pain in the ass because I'm not sure what to do and what products to use. I had to use handfuls of my ecostyler gel with olive oil but that leaves the sides sooooooooo hard and crunchy and doesn't keep it layed down nicely. I'm not sure what to do lol. Any product recommendations please?
first i have to say i love that pic. very cute. i have a pixie also.i was growing but then decided recently to keep it. i missed the ease of it and all the compliments. as it grew and got longer everyone was asking why i would grow cause it is so cute. anyway, i have always had a problem with poof, because i have such thick hair, but i have 3a curl so no root curl. this short i do not have much curl to deal with , just poof, so my stylist somehow "collapses" the poof. but i do not know if that would work on curlier hair. but if u look at pics of halle berry , her sides are flat, and do not stick up. mabie it the cutting ? sorry im not help but i just wanted to say ow cute the style is.

I think they added foaming wrap lotion thing & then laid the hair down with a wrap & set her under the dryer because that's the only thing I can think of or straightened it & added products to that. It's okay, the style is super cute
Your ends will curl no matter how short your hair is. If it were shorter, you'd just have to grow into and through this phase, so it really wouldn't help to cut it shorter. (My mother never did get that, and kept having my hair cut even shorter than that cut, then had fits because it would stick up.)
Peace,

Maybe you need different products now you don't have heat damage, have you reviewed your hair properties? Hard hold gel without a ton of leave in conditioner leaves many peoples hair crunchy/ hard/ dry feeling. Does your hair like oil? If so you might try making an Ecostyler custard (see YouTube) or perhaps using a curl cream, or mixing conditioner and gel.
2a-2c, medium texture, porous/ colour treated. Three years CG. Past bra strap length heading for waist.
