Default Yay! New Conditioner

So a Target opened where I live and while I have lots of feelings about a big box large chain moving into downtown Portland, I was able to pick up the Curls Coconut Curlada conditioner. It smells awesome and feels really thin and slippery. I'm think it might replace my pricey Smoothing Lotion, I doubt the Darcy's, but I'm open and excited to try it.

For the record, Target did a pretty nice job integrating itself, but Wal-mart and Costco...I got you on notice .

My Target has a nice display of some of the Curls line (my Wal-Mart may too but IDK because I don't go there) and there's a gel/jelly that has me intrigued. I love coconut-y smelling things so that conditioner is calling my name.

The thing is it doesn't really smell like coconut. It smells more like a vanilla baked good or frosting.

That stuff is AMAZING! It does smell like a vanilla frosted cake, which makes me want to eat it lol. I find it so ironic since I just bought some yesterday at Target! It detangles so well. Have you used it as a leave-in too or just a conditioner?

I got a sample of the goddess glaze (I believe that is one of the jellies you are referring to). It gave nice curl definition. It does not leave the hair hard.

I actually haven't used it yet. I was just so excited to buy it today. I'll use it tomorrow as a RO and a leave-in to see. I'm also washing my hair tomorrow, so it's a good test day.

Okay I'm back with some first impressions.

I was underwhelmed by it as a RO conditioner. Now the Darcy's Pumpkin is like the HG of all HGs, so I may just have outrageously high standards for ROs that no conditioner can ever expect to reach (I don't know what I'll do when it's DC'ed), but it just didn't seem as softening, it didn't rinse as clean, and my hair just felt a lot more blah than it usually does. I also had to use more and it didn't have as much slip.

Jury is still out as a leave in. I used too much and my hair took forever (forever meaning more than the normal 8 hours) to dry and ended up crunchy and a little greasy looking.
I got home from the gym and used less, made sure to water it down, and I'm pretty sure the results will be better. I'm letting it air dry as much as I can before I diffuse.
I do like that it calms frizz more on it's on than the CJ Smoothing Lotion, the Curls is glycerin free, so it might be ideal for CO styling. If anyone's interested. I'm pretty much done with CO styling though, my hair is getting too long and becoming too prone to SSK without a styler.
It doesn't have as much slip as the CJ, but very few things do, not even KCKT. It feels sticky on my neck, where it drips.
If I do like it, I'll dilute small bits in a separate container for ease of use.

If I could make any predictions I would say this will be a one time purchase. I'll probably mix it with my other products until it's gone. It's not a bad product, it's just not as amazing for my hair as what I'm already using.

Darcy's is just amazing! It's rich but not heavy, it's got slip, it rinses clean yet leaves your hair soft and manageable. I don't need to use a ton, so a couple bottle last me a few months. It's perfect and I'll never cheat on it again.

As for the Curls Conditioner. I really couldn't like it enough to continue using it, even mixed with my other conditioners. It leaves you with a residue as a leave-in and it isn't slippery enough for a RO. My hair doesn't feel good when I use it. I gave it to my curly roommate to try instead of throwing it.

On CurlMart and at Darcy's website - darcysbotanicals.com

You can get the 16oz size of the Pumpkin on Darcy's website - I do!

Curlmart sell Dary's Botanicals and you can buy it direct from the website. They have some retail locations, mostly in the south.

The sales on curlmart, plus the higher shipping from Darcy's, usually don't make it as cheap as two individual bottles (they send you two individual bottles for the "16" oz anyway).

I have a 16oz bottle of the Pumpkin - it's been a while since I ordered though. I wait until Darcy's sales - next one will probably be Black Friday if not before.

DO they? I've been wanting to purchase exclusively from Aveyou, since I do not like Curlmart customer service, but I didn't know an economical way to buy CJ from Aveyou and Darcy's from the website or curlmart.

Thanks!
