To those struggling to get volume/root curl...
I have finally found a method that works for me about every time. My wavy hair has always had the tendency to straighten out and go flat, but I found that this is because I've been trying too hard to get clumps. Doing this has enhanced my natural curl pattern a lot and eliminated the dreaded "triangle head" look.
-Wash and condition hair.
-Flip head up-side-down and comb thoroughly with a fine tooth comb.
-Scrunch in a quarter size (more or less) of leave-in.
-Scrunch in a quarter size of styler.
-Put hair in a turban for about 20 minutes.
Later, I let it airdry until about 50% dry, and then I put it in a headband and push the headband forward, to make a little "bump" in the front. This way, it dries with a lot of volume. Plus, I wear headbands most of the time anyway
Hope this is helpful to anyone!
