Is Kinky Curly really that worth it?

Like Tree17Likes

Every leave-in I've tried with KCCC works fine with it, that's why I've never bothered trying KCKT since I already had plenty of stuff to use - and no clash of fragrances. I'm surprised they do that in their own product line. I don't mind KCCC itself, sorta vanilla custardy smelling.
2C/3A/3B - modified CG - fairly fine now, normal/low porosity/normal elasticity

Current Main Rotation: MG217 medicated or Aim2Health 'poos for scalp, Elucence cond., Spiral Solutions Protein & Deeply Decadent Cond., CJCCCC reg or lite,CJ Pattern Pusha,, Giovanni LA Hold Hair Spritz + lots more, sporadically

HG Method: Super Soaker + Smasters-ing, brief upside down diffusing w/360o diffuser then clips/clamps & air dry. Newly gray - stopped my henna glosses!

That's good to know. I wasn't sure if I should order the kckt or not, but I was afraid my other stuff wouldn't work with the kccc. Now I sort of feel like I have to use it since I bought it. Maybe I'll try the giovanni direct leave in under the kccc and compare the results.
2c/3a, dense, fairly coarse, normal porosity and elasticity, bsl curly, WL wet
Low poo: Giovanni 50 50
Co-wash: down under naturals, tresume naturals
RO: AOHR
LI: Giovanni Direct, Desert Essence curl cream
Stylers: kccc, HE smu, brhg
Oils: coconut, argan or evoo
I have used the KCKT under KCCC and I'm not sure that both together a good combo for my hair.. I don't get a ton of definition and I feel like the KCCC weighs my hair down more than some other options do. That said, I have used KCKT under some other products with much better results (better clumping, with lighter bouncier curls).

Some Targets carry it, so you may be able to find it locally rather than having to order it. I only order things when I can get them for way less than locally or it's something that I just can't find anywhere.

To the OP, where in Canada do you live?
I live in the Greater Toronto Area in Ontario
Hair Type: 3a/3b, dark brown, blonde highlights, normal - high porosity, fine - medium strands
Low Poo: Live Clean Moisturizing Shampoo (lowpoo)
Condish: Aussie Moist or Tresemee Naturals
Leave In: Giovanni DLI or Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine LI
Styling: Curls Rock Amplifier, Pantene Curl Defining Mousse (HG)
My hair loves protein!
Right now I am LOVING KCCC. I have to keep my routine simple so it's easy peasy. Low Poo with KMF - Whenever shampoo, condition with Desert Essence Coconut moisturizing conditioner and slap on the KCCC. Then I do a sort of plop in my microfiber turbie twist because I cannot stand drippy hair while I get dressed. Then I either shake it out and air dry or diffuse if I need it dry faster. Hair looks amazing, is soft but clearly defined and shiny and lasts for 2-3 days. LOVE IT! It's also been a weird summer but held up in the heat and humidity of the NE.

My hair is short, about chin length, 3A-ish most of the time, thick, coarse, dyed, and needs a decent hold for definition. Prior to finally getting KCCC my fave gel was Ouidad Climate Control.

I feel like I use a lot but one jar has lasted me all summer so that's a plus. I distribute it through my hair with my fingers. Distribution is very key for me, each curl needs to be coated. Once I feel like I've got enough in (I can feel it) I flip over wide tooth comb my hair to get volume and define where I want it to fall, the scrunch in a tiny bit more to ensure the ends are set. Then plop it all up. As it's short my turbie twist works great. This all takes me about 3 minutes. I like the smell too. Once it's dry I kinda SOTC, mostly just run my hands over it and toss it. Ususally I'll flip over and shake my fingers at the roots. I love volume with my curls so big is good with me.

I do use KCKT in the winter or if my hair is feeling really dry, but my hair doesn't really love leave-ins so I usually skip it. I probably won't rebuy once the bottle is gone, the icky smell alone ensures that. A good moisturizing conditioner and a monthly DC keeps my hair in an easily untangled state.
I haven't used my usual KCCC + BRHG combo for a couple of weeks because I've been experimenting with SS CEJ/FHG, which has been working pretty well but not perfectly. Yesterday I thought I'd try the KCCC + BRHG just to see if it really was as great as I thought. OMG. Yesterday I was running around so didn't pay much attention to my hair, but last night I did my usual (smoothed/scrunched in a little SM C&H Milk and wore a silk cap to bed) and this morning I woke up with Perfect Hair. All I did was shake my head and put in a tiny barrette to keep my hair from flopping in my face. And that's why I love KCCC (+ BRHG)!

Bump because I am really loving KCCC! I bought a pump dispenser from Hobby Lobby and put the KCCC into it so that I can use somewhat consistent amounts each time. I use it after LI on NOT soaking wet hair (I turban with a micro fiber towel and blot before the first application of KCCC), followed by gel; I scrunch with a flour sack towel and plop for a bit. I then scrunch more moisture out and/or pixie diffuse to about 50% dry and add more KCCC. I plop again, overnight (I usually wash/we at night), and in the morning it is about 90%. I have been getting consistent rope ringlets towards the bottom half of my BSL hair and my hair is so soft to the touch and shiny.

I read the propaganda on the new jar I bought: "Instantly transform thick, dry, frizzy hair into silky spirals and wonderful waves...

Used regularly, Curling Custard will help maintain your hair's moisture balance and reduce breakage resulting in longer healthier hair."

And I use quite a bit of it and even if I follow his routine on a weekend morning, the KCCC doesn't appear to increase my air drying time.

Love love love KCCC; flame away people (you know who you are) on how the ingredients are not formulated to do what it promises in the propaganda (I get it, KCKT is not a true conditioner, so KCCC's claims may be suspect), but my hair looks FAB and is healthy and touchable and etc. KCCC is my HG

I'm right there with you, kccc is awesome. The pump bottle is a great idea, I never thought of that. I'll have to look for one.

I have used the KC come clean, KCKT, KCCC. I love all 3. I have stopped using the Come clean as I use clay or BS w/ conditioner now.

What I love about the KCCC is its like both a gel and a styler. All you need is a little on wet hair.

I will always use the KCKT. It is the best leave- in I have ever tried. I do sometimes alternate between this and Giovanni Direct leave in but I always return to KCKT. :-)

Using it with a pump bottle is perfect. You can use the same amount every time and don't have to worry about globs sliding off your hand.

Right now I'm just using it to smasters with because I, ah, am a major PJ and have a ridiculous number of things to play around with. Today I washed with As I Am, used Darcy's Pumpkin Seed conditioner as RO, a few drops of CNPF under CJCCCC, then a mix of CIAB with a little BRHG for a styler. Scrunched in a pump of KCCC halfway through diffusing. I've got curls boinging all over now. Of course, I have no idea quite what is doing it (probably a mix of everything), but it looks good. So much for simplifying, although it looks a lot more complex than it really is.

I appreciate everybody's replies on the Kinky Curly Knot Today. I bought it over a week ago, and haven't used it yet. I can't wait to use it. Thanks pinkwolf for your reply; I have 3b/3c hair, and I have seen YouTube videos and read Twitter reviews on KCKT working on for those with 3c hair and/or 3b/3c hair. I will mention how it works for me soon. I plan to use it the next time I have wash day.
