messy curls?

Okay, so I'm just learning how to deal with my curly hair and starting to get the hang of it, but I definitely need some assistance.

I tend to have to take a shower in the morning for my hair to look good at all and go through half the day with it damp and the rest of the day it looks decent. (I cannot use a hairdryer I've tried expensive ones with diffusers, it's terrible.) But, the issue I'm having is that as soon as I get home and kinda just let my hair get a little messy I LOVE how it looks... but of course I'm home so that doesn't even matter.

So, my question is, how do I get this look at the beginning of the day? I've tried the whole silk head wrap thing and my hair still looks awful and frizzy in the morning... I don't know what to do.

I don't know if you guys need any details about my hair and I wouldn't know what to provide. But, luckily it happened again today so I have a picture of it and what I'm going for.

Sorry I look kind of exhausted in it... First week of school. D:
So it sounds like you'd like to speed up the drying process but without a dryer. What kind of towel are you using? A lot of people on the boards swear by special towels like Curlease and Curls Like Us which are sold at Curlmart. I use these as well as microfiber towels & my husband's old t-shirts. The point is to scrunch water out without ruffling the cuticle which terry cloth towels do. So you need to avoid terry cloth towels.
Another technique that might be helpful for you is plopping. Check out this video:waterlily716: Plopping with a Long-Sleeved T-Shirt - YouTube
Hope this helps!
P.S. you have beautiful hair!
Medium Texture/Normal Porosity
Conditioners: Curl Junkie conditioners, Elucence moisture balancing, Darcy's pumpkin seed, Mop Top Daily
Gels: CJ Pattern Pusha, CJ Curl Queen, UFDCM, Mop Top Curly Custard, KCCC (wish it didn't take so long to dry!), CJ Aloe Fix Lite
Weekly PT (CJ Repair Me) & DT
Icequeen method
CG since Aug. 08, still a lot to learn
