Plop Plop Frizz Frizz--Transitioning with Questions

Hi All: I'm making the transition from years and years of damaging my hair to make it straight and FINALLY coming to terms with my hair. It's going to take time, but as long as I can pull my hair back..and as long as I have enough make-up to deter onlookers, I'm cool with it.
Questions are: This plopping you speak of--can I clip my hair with duckbill clips and then plop..or do I clip after plopping.
Next question: My hair is so dry..and I'm menopausal which equals thinning hair, so I wash my hair once a week. Is this once-a-week washing (actually I'll be no-pooing) common in curly hair girls?
Thanks in advance!!!

Welcome!

- You can clip before or after plopping, whatever works for you. Try it both ways and see which you like better!

- Since eliminating sulfates and silicones, my scalp and hair don't get gunky for 5 or 6 days - but I generally wash every 3 or 4 because my curls are mostly frizz by that point. If you don't need to wash for a week, don't! Again, it's whatever works for you. Some curlies wash daily; others weekly; and still others any manner of in between. It's all about the experimentation.

- Your thread title made me giggle. :-)
