Does anyone else shampoo daily?

Just curious

Corrina777 09-06-2013 06:20 PM

I cleanse my hair daily, unless I seriously oversleep. I mainly use low-poos or cleansing conditioners, but occasionally throw in a traditional co-wash or (gasp!) a gentle sulfate shampoo. I don't have a set schedule- I just use whatever I think my hair needs that day.

How do you folks who cleanse daily stand it?

If I were to cleanse daily, I would either have to walk around for 8 hrs with wet/damp hair (which I HATE) or I'd have to diffuse or at least 1/2 hr every day, which is not a lifestyle I ever intend to pursue.

Am I missing something? Do I just need to cut my hair shorter to be able to cleanse & diffuse daily? My hair is fine, medium density, BSL.

I don't cleanse daily but I have to wet it daily unless I'm going to wear it in a pony tail.

Mine is fine, dense, and just past shoulder length. 99% of the time I cleanse daily. It takes my hair anywhere from 3-6 hours to air dry depending on humidity, how much water I scrunch out, if my roots are clipped etc, and I just kind of deal with it. I am home a lot though so we hair is okay.

Corrina777 09-06-2013 08:39 PM

My hair is also fine and dense. I almost always air dry and my hair dries between 11:30 and 1:30, depending on what styling products I used (hair is washed and styled by 6:30, so yeah, it's half of my day). I do martial arts most days so my hair just gets too gross at the roots to not cleanse. If I had the energy to get up 20 minutes earlier I would probably diffuse part way, but that almost never happens. I'm not thrilled about the crunchy noodle hair all morning, but I prefer it to my other options.

I wash my hair every morning that I have to go out. So 5 or 6 days a week. I shampoo and condition. I diffuse because otherwise my hair takes a good 4 to 5 hours to dry. It's still moist underneath for hours ever after I diffuse. If I don't wash daily my hair gets oily and I can feel it in my roots. My hair will also get even more limp than usual, esp at the roots -__-

i actually wet and cleanse my hair with something everyday or my scalp hates me and i look really bad with second day hair. I need to start shampooing more often though

wavydaze 09-08-2013 07:34 AM

Hmmmm. I also wonder about those who are prone to dandruff or SD, like myself. I think having my hair be wet for so long every day (if I don't diffuse) would be just the funnest for the Malassezia yeast. Malassezia Magic Kingdom every day.

poxyfairyplume 09-08-2013 07:45 AM

I cleanse pretty daily. My hair hates too much product, so I kind of have to. I have to wet my hair every morning anyway, so it doesn't matter too much abut the wet hair. I've been cleansing at night, but thinking about doing it mornings now instead. I used to have awful 1st day hair and good 2nd day. Now it's reversed.

There is no such thing As 2nd day hair for me unfortunately

I don't cleanse everyday, but I do wet and recondition. I don't mind wet hair. I don't diffuse.

I wash every day, sometimes with low poo and sometimes with Garnier PureClean (it has ALS which is milder than SLS). If I'm wearing my hair down I diffuse, otherwise I'm rockin' the wet bun look.

There are conditioners and styling products in there too but I didn't want to make a list.

Props to everyone here who can stand washing there hair everyday! I have fine but very dense and very long (past waist) hair and I don't think I could stand to wash everyday..I wear it curly for two days then brush out and place in braids or cute buns and updos for another 3. My hair and scalp are super used to it now and the scalp adjusts after time...shampooing often/everyday promotes greasiness IMO..

I cleanse daily, but mine really only takes a couple hours to air dry. Maybe an hour to an hour and a half if I diffuse. No biggie for me :)

I should mention that I don't have any scalp issues so that could be why my hair/scalp tolerates it. I'm not sure how it would affect SD/dandruff.

hambo02 09-08-2013 09:30 PM

my hair actually itches worse and smells bad if i dont wash every day.

Not doing it makes my hair more oily than doing it...

Well it's differant for everyone :)

laura1982 09-09-2013 08:39 AM

I cleanse daily (due to the gym). Would prefer it if I didn't have to but my hairs not quite long enough for a quick up do. I'm lucky that it dries quite quickly and u also have the car heater on low during my drive to work (which takes about an hour).

FYI - my hair is drier, lacks shine and bounce when I wash it so much... :P but I haven't found a compromise...
