I use the AG mousse gel over either AG recoil or curl keeper. Sometimes flax seed gel if I'm not too lazy to go down to the fridge for it. It has pretty good hold and I get good results.

Ingredients
Water/Aqua/Eau, Vp/Va Copolymer, Isobutane, Propane, Butane, Carbomer, Panthenol, Triethanolamine, Peg-6 Cocamide, Propylene Glycol, Quaternium-15, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Hydrolyzed Silk, Humulus Lupulus (Hops) Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Melissa Officinalis (Balm Mint) Extract, Tussilago Farfara (Coltsfoot) Flower Extract, Foeniculum Vulgare (Fennel) Fruit Extract, Parfum/Fragrance.

^This!! I was looking at all my different mousses today to see if I could use any of what I already have, and every time I saw it, my jaw dropped a little further.

No, no — she spelled it right. Or is it the singular "a" to which you object?

I'm assuming that's what foams it up as it dispenses?

It's used as a propellant.

That's what I thought too. I tried a bunch of other products, which I ended up throwing away because they didn't work well for me, or gave me major scalp itchiness. Then I bought the A|G Mousse Gel, which I love. I don't think I saved any money on the cheap mousses, since I didn't get more than one or two uses per can.

I also find that higher quality styling products make multi-day hair easier to achieve, and that really helps bring the overall cost down.

What's the texture of the AG like? Is it really a mousse-gel or are they just using that for advertising? It seems to have quite a few negative reviews.

It's definitely a mousse texture but seems to have the hold of a gel.

I'd say that the texture is mousse like, but there's a bit of gel texture in there too. It seems to have the weight of a mousse, and hold which is more gel-like. I apply the mousse gel to my roots, then apply gel to the lower lengths of my hair, squishing it in from tip toward the roots.

Okay...I might try it. I like the way mousses leaves my hair bouncier and doesn't go all wet dog for so long, but I prefer the smoothing and frizz free effect of gel. I was hoping this might be a happy medium.
