Default VO5

I was at King Soopers today and was browsing the vast collection of $.79 VO5 conditioners in search for a good cowash and got a little overwhelmed. I read the ingredients on them and they ALL seemed CG....?? So I know many curlies really like them- is there one in particular that's best? Did I misread the ingredients, or can I just pick my fav based on scent, etc? I'm admittedly not the best at determining if ingredients are CG friendly, so I'd really appreciate some advice! Thanks

I honestly don't know!! I picked up the moisture milk ones because I saw others mention it on this site and they were 99 cents a bottle where I am, so I figured why not

I find the Kiwi-Lime Squeeze very effective as a co-wash. Passion Fruit Smoothie is more moisturizing. (Those are the only two I've tried.)

The only one in my cvs is kiwi lime, so I haven't tried the others, but I really like it for a cowash. I've also heard good things about the tea ones and the moisture milks.

My favorite VO5 conditioner is the Kiwi Lime. I also like the Moisture Milks. I think most of the VO5 conditioners are CG.

I just got that kiwi. I've only used it once but undid the squish to condish method and had the best hair day ever. It has hydrogenated collagen in it which is a kind of protein that is supposed to adhere much better. I think that's true.

Yay! So it sounds like kiwi is the way to go. I am lovin' the price and variety!

Can't beat the price, unless you find the gargantuan size for $1.39, which I found in a Walmart this spring. I've still got most of the bottle.

There is one conditioner I found that has a sulfate. I can't remember for the life of me the name of it. I wanna say it was a blue bottle IIRC.

And it's too bad the poos aren't sulfate free:/ I guess you can't have it all.

I only recently started CG, so I don't have a ton of experience or anything. That said, of the two VO5 conditioners I've tried for co-washing, Shae Cashmere and Extra Body, I like the Extra Body conditioner the best. The smell wasn't as strong (which is a fairly big deal to me) and it seemed to rinse a lot cleaner than the Shae Cashmere. Of course, that might just be due to improved technique, but I'm still going to stick with the Extra Body conditioner for now.

From what I've read it really probably depends on your hair type as to which one would be the best. Thankfully they are cheap enough to try a few without too much disappointment if they don't work.

I just looked at the ingredients in their Extra Body Conditioner, and it has protein also.

I checked the ingredients lists on the VO5 website. Here's how they break down:

Protein

Extra Body Volumizing Conditioner

Herbal Escapes Free Me Freesia with Aloe Extract Moisturizing Conditioner

Herbal Escapes Kiwi Lime Squeeze with Lemongrass Extract Clarifying Conditioner

Moisture Milks Strawberries and Cream with Soy Milk Protein Moisturizing Conditioner

Silky Experiences Champagne Kiss with Silk Protein Moisturizing Conditioner

Silky Experiences Shea Cashmere with Shea Protein & Warm Vanilla Conditioner

Split Ends Anti-Breakage Conditioner

Protein Free

Herbal Escapes Ocean Refresh with Revitalizing Sea Minerals Conditioner

Herbal Escapes Pomegranate & Grapeseed Extract Anti-Oxidant Rich Strengthening Conditioner

Herbal Escapes Sun-Kissed Raspberry Balancing Conditioner

Moisture Milks Passion Fruit Smoothie with Soy Milk Protein Moisturizing Conditioner (Site claims "soy proteins", but the ingredients list posted contains none. The other Moisture Milks conditioner, Strawberries and Cream, has soymilk, (which contains protein) so check the bottles on the ground).

Repair & Protect Strengthening Conditioner

Silky Experiences Island Coconut with an Indulgence of Coconut Milk Conditioner

Tea Therapy Blackberry Sage Tea Revitalizing Conditioner

Tea Therapy Healthful Green Tea Conditioner

Tea Therapy Vanilla Mint Tea Clarifying Conditioner
