Cute way to pin back front sections?

My hair grows forward so it's often in my face. I don't ever part in the middle (looks horrid on me) and usually flip the very top part around for volume and because the middle part looks so dumb. This can be awkward and annoying in itself though... I usually have a chunkier curl at the top and it likes to smack me in the face (no joke). And I have to keep flipping it/taking it out of my face.

So I sometimes bobby-pin it back. Any cute way to do this? It's okay when I just bobby-pin it but I'm looking for something cuter/nicer/more sophisticated/more professional-looking.

Thanks chicas!

my hair also grows forward. i always part on the side. sometimes i clip it while drying but mostly not. and there is a curl from the middle top that curls down over my forehead! :sad3: some days my hair behaves and does not curl over my face, other days not.
so, then i clip it when it is almost dry or dry -- i found some cute snap clips that are tiny and i can put right on the front side. sometimes i use a larger barrette and just ciip it in maybe 3 inches down from top of my head.
sometimes i take out clips after a bit, other days they stay in .
it's trial and error, and as every curly girl knows, each day is different! :?: i've bought clips/barrettes different sizes, look in cvs, walgreens, rite aid, ulta, etc.....

I've also discovered that my hair's inner power animal is Led Zeppelin.

^My hair likes to do this when left to it's own devices... both in terms of floof as well as how it's clearly growing forward/eating their faces.

You could try twisting it or braiding it off behind your ear. I think that looks super cute! There's some tutorials on youtube if you do a search.

I'm really paranoid about what I put in my hair, but France Luxes has some tiny tige boule barrettes that are very gentle on hair and work really well for what you want. They won't hold a whole lot of hair, but I find this actually works better, because they don't mess up curl pattern. They only come in colors, but they're pretty subtle.

Holy cow! I've been lamenting the lack of pretty barrettes but wow. There are some pricey barrettes on that site! And $24 scrunchies! :laughing8:

curlyinthefog -- do these clips have a good, non-slip hold?

they are pricey, but i'm eyeing the heart ones for my granddaughters. and, i could see myself buying one for me, nice to have one clip that would totally 'do the job.' i bookmarked it for possible future purchase.

I am an accessory junkie, love headbands and especially ones with cat ears or mouse ears because apparently I will never grow up and no one can make me. However, I use Claires.com or Icing.com, they have an amazing clearance section and if you sign up for the shoprunner service you get 2 day free shipping. Icing.com is more older or more adult looking hair clips and things where Claires.com is more younger looking things. They aren't completely juvenile like grade school, but it is more colorful things. Go have a look definitely. I buy a lot of headbands from there and if you have a Rue 21 etc store close by they have some gorgeous hair accessories. Claires has these really cute butterfly hairclips that I am really wanting, and these things are cheap too. My headbands range from like 4-8 bucks and they are good quality made. Amazon.com has some good things too, you just have to dig around for them on there. They have some gorgeous peacock hair clips, I am a sucker for peacocks. I love the bright colors and the feathers, they are just beautiful creatures.

They hold really well. I have thick hair (5" pony) and a 3" barrette will hold a half-up for me, and that's asking a lot. A French-back barrette will hold more hair, but for my hair at least they're too damaging so I won't wear them.

I have that same funky middle piece that hangs straight down in my face regardless of what I do. The worst part is, that layer is too short to go behind my ear! I usually just pin it back with a bobby, but wow, some of the mini barrettes on that site are adorable. I may have to splurge.

CurlyInTheFog 09-19-2013 11:44 PM

Ha, my enabling job is done! :toothy8:

just wanted to add that i have seen discount coupons for that site on retailmenot.com. nothing current, but recent. do they ever have sales?

i haven't purchased anything yet (it is sooo pricey) but am looking. :confused1:

CurlyInTheFog 09-20-2013 11:32 AM

They have items on sale all the time, so you can check there. I think they do have site-wide sales from time to time. Also, if you buy three items they send you a "gift" item--you can't choose it, but you can tell them what sort of thing you'd like. I've gotten some nice little claw clips that way.

Do you get 2 for the $6 or just one? It isn't clear in the description.

CurlyInTheFog 09-21-2013 01:50 PM

You know what, I'm sorry, but I can't remember! I think just one, because that's how they usually sell them, but I bought in sets of two and I just don't remember if they both came on one card or not. You could email and ask. They're pretty good about responding to emails.

chupie 09-21-2013 02:13 PM

I'm thinking it's just one because I found a set if two on there. I couldn't tell how big those small ones would be and they kept saying " for thin fine hair." So I went hunting for some on the ground. Found one set! Not this brand. But they look the same size. They work fine for holding my medium in the finer side that I pull back. Nothing near as pretty as those in the site though. Damn.

CurlyInTheFog 09-22-2013 02:07 AM

They're pretty small--about an inch long--but they hold more than the description sounds like. I have fine hair, but it's thick, and I can clip back enough hair to keep it from flopping in my face, and because they're so small they don't disrupt curls. What I usually do is take a piece of hair at the front and a bit underneath and pull that back and clip, so that it holds back the rest of the hair that wants to flop over, if that makes sense.
