Conditioner questions....

For some reason when I do my Co-Wash of the day either in or out of the shower, the minute that I am done I do the styling gel because I don't have a good leave in quite yet. This is the part that is screwy, for some reason after I dry my hair it is straighter so I take my conditioner which I have some mixed up in a bottle of water kinda like a spray in and spritz it all over the straighter places. It makes those spots more curly and why would it do this? It is just conditioner mixed in a bottle of water. I had tried to put some of the Gel that I use in it but it just didn't work quite right.
Something else, the conditioners that I have I just don't think would work real good for a leave in they seem to be heavy as a leave in. Is there a good light leave in? The gel that I am using doesn't tame the frizz like I had hoped either. I found a link about this Wild Cherry Curl Popping Gel, I want to try it but the only website that I found it on is out of stock. I use the TIght Curl Enhancer by UR Curly, it has no crunch whatsoever and it isn't sticky AT ALL.. The Curl Keeper was crunchy depending on how much I used and it left me with these straight ends for some odd reason. I did do some trimming up because I wanted a Carrie Bradshaw Bob ( Yeah, I love Sex and the City), I thought her hair looked so cute when she cut it in the fifth season.
So now I am wondering if the Curl Keeper will do that straight end crap or not, I just wonder what is making my current curl gel not tame the frizz just right. I use ALOT of it, about two to three quarter size blobs of it. I don't rake it through, I scrunch it through. It seems to work better at making the curls bouncy.
Back to the conditioner though, it is the Suave Naturals Coconut stuff. I haven't tried using the As I Am in a bottle with water. That stuff is really runny, it has no thick texture at all which is what makes it so lightweight I am guessing? Just wondering why the conditioner in water would make my curls pop back up like that.
And putting a question out to anyone about some good curl styling gel that would just about bump me up a curl level in tightness. I am having good results where I trimmed the ends of my hair off, thinking there was alot of damage on the ends more so than I had previously thought. I guess if I cut even more off they would bounce even more. My hair right now is really bouncy and feels amazing so I am happy for that. I think we all wish that we had different curls.

By applying those styling products without a leave in conditioner perhaps you are messing with the water content of your hair too much - curl enhancers can be dehydrating (salts) or loaded with humectants as the UR Curly is, Curl Keeper is also loaded with humectants.

The Curly Girl method has you using a leave in conditioner, for me at least it's the fatty alcohols in conditioner that are key in frizz control and clumping and stopping gel being too crunchy. Some curl enhancers make my clumps fall apart again. The method also has you using a gel for hold, this is not the same as a lightweight curl enhancer jelly. Some can use curl enhancers instead of gel but that is the second of two key changes you are making to the method.

Heavy when, in your hand, on your wet hair or once your hair is dry? Texture doesn't mean a product is either heavy or rich, thickness can simply just mean a lot of thickening agents have been used. The As I Am co-wash is a cleanser AFAIK not intended to act as a conditioner.

It feels heavy when it is in my hair, the Suave Naturals after it dries if I use it as a leave in which is why I can't seem to find a good leave in conditioner. I am thinking to maybe use two styling products together, maybe the Curl Keeper or Ouidad with the Ur Curly over top. I just love how the Ur Curly doesn't make my hair stiff. I am loving how bouncy that my hair is, my husband is loving how soft that it has been in the past few weeks.
It might be me just being paranoid thinking that my hair looks bad when it actually doesnt look bad at all. I think if I go back with Curl Keeper because right now I can't afford to try a big bunch of different ones, I will be ok as long as I can figure out the straight end problem. That could have been from damaged ends. Is there a perfect styling gel? One that works well, doesn't dry hair out and isn't crazy expensive?
