How to prevent SSK's at night?

Hi curlies,

I suffer from SSK's

I have them especially in the nape of my neck. And now I'm thinking that it is maybe caused because of my pineapple do at night. Because I lie on the hair on my neck the whole night and some hair will escape from the pineaple at night and make knots in themsleves.

Is this a plausible theorie? And how to prevent this? maybe wear a braid at night or use not only a satin pillowcase but also a satin bonnet?

Yes, Maybe keeping the ends strechted will also help. I think I go back to air dry my hair in a knot, like I used to do. I think I have a lot more SSK's since I have become a CG, because since then I let my hair dry whitout it being in a knot/braid.

My SSKs are usually on the ends (last 1-1.5"). I think this is related to the fact that each of my hairs ends in a little circle, and the hair end sometimes enters the center of the circle. For me, it seems like I get more of them when I do anything with my hair which masses the tangly ends together
Peace,

Yeah, ever since going curly, SSKs have became a thing that I have to contend with. I am trying right now sleeping with a satin scarf (I plan to buy a silk satin scarf soon) and a bonnet (to keep the scarf on through the night). I think its helping with the detangling and I have been getting better 2nd/3rd day hair. I can't speak too much on the SSKs yet. I hope this will improve that too.
