question about LP hair and curl cremes
LP's, do you use them? It is the one product I have never used, because we know how products "sit" on our hair. If you do use a curl cream, could you tell me how you use it and which one(s)?

You may have better luck if you post this in the low porosity forum. :toothy5:

I do. I apply a curl cream as my first styling step. I emulsify it between my hands, then smooth it over my hair in the sections with the lightest curl. I usually use A|G re:coil (curl activator), but sometimes indulge myself and use Boots Curl Creme (from across the pond). This really helps make it look like all my hair belongs on the same head.

Sheesh, Morgan, I hated AG. I felt bad because I know a lot of curlies love it. Where do you purchase Boots? I know it is popular here too...

Before going CG I used Redken. Don't remember what the number was but I got major shrinkage with that cream. Also I had a peekaboo back then. I've been wanting to go back to creams since gels just doesn't do it for me. Underneath my hair parts I have just don't wanna stick to each other. Shea moisture I've been eyeing for a while. Might grab some soon. Atleast I can return them if my hair hates it lol.

I used to like, and still have some, of Redken's Ringlet 07, but yea, it has dimethicone in it. I still wonder about cones.

How much of the A|G re:coil curl activator were you using? That's sometimes what makes the difference for people who like/love it vs. those who hate it. My hair is below APL, and I use about a dime sized amount.

I got my first (partial) pot of Boots Curl Creme from someone here on who hadn't like it. Then, a friend of mine did a group order through BritSuperStore, and a friend picked some more up for me when she was in the UK. There's also the possibility you could find someone in the UK who wants something from NA, and you could do a swap.

As I recall, I used less than you use - not much at all because I was hesitant. It greased up my hair. Did not like. Used it over CK.

I use shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie as my cream mixed with the shea moisture curling souffle about a quarter size amount when both products are mixed in my palm and apply to half my hair..absorbs well and I diffuse.

Ashley, I cant tell you the number of times I have had one or the other of those product in my hand at walgreens. I am just concerned that they will make my hair a greasy mess and will weigh it down. They seem to work great for some and are awful for others. I know I can return them if they dont work...and it is still not clear to me which product does what, including the milk, which is the lightest of the products.

My hair is medium to coarse, as well as low porosity. Curl creams have never worked for me, but that may be because I leave in some of my rinse out conditioner. I use KKCC for styling and find that this is all I need. My hair gets build up easy and begins to look dull when I leave too many products in.

I would suggest the milk over the smoothie because the learning curve has more wiggle room due to its lighter consistency. It took me going back to this product 3 times before I was able to get the hang of it. Whatever you do...treat this as your moisturizer, sealer, and cream all In one...don't layer too many products with it!

Wishing u luck and pretty curls if you decide to pick it up!
