Hair drying super fast when using gel?

Does anyone else who uses gel notice their hair dries super fast when using gel?

I normally use mouse and my hair would take hours to dry. I picked up a huge tub of sally's salon care hair gel, used it today and my hair dried in less then an hour. I was super happy.

let me know you're experiences with hair gel and how long it takes if youair dry with it.
Nope lol.

My hair takes a while to dry either way! In fact, I actually think it takes longer to dry when I have product in!

I have low porosity hair though, so it's to be expected

Not me either. I have very high porosity hair and it takes FOREVVVERRRR to dry with gel in. Probably an hour or so more than normal, which would be about 6 hours.. yikes.

What gel do you use?
2c-3a - coarse - normal-high porosity - high density - growing out to donate

NP/LP: KMF Whenever Conditioner/ YTCucs
RO/LI: Sevi Pumpkin Seed DC / CJ Argan & Olive Oil, KCKT, YTBbs
DT: Coconut Oil + scalp massage
OIL/STYLER: SM Elixir / KCCC
COLOR: henna, amla & indigo
Gel can contain alcohol and other drying ingredients. The benefit can be quickly drying hair, but it can results in overall dry hair in the long-run. Be careful with the ingredients in any hair product.

3a, med strand thickness, high density, low porosity

Nope my hair typically takes FOREVER to air dry. Even if I plop. The fastest drying gel for me is Uncle Funky's Daughter Curly Magic, but that is still two hours. The only time my hair would dry faster is if the gel had a drying alcohol in it AND I used minimal product, AND I styled it damp as opposed to wet or soaking wet.

There are two possibilities which readily occur to me. One is that there'e too much alcohol in the gel, as others have pointed out. The other is that some people experience what they call "flash drying" with some gels. I haven't been able to get any handle on why that happens, as at least one of those people is practically a hair twin of mine (fine, low porosity hair), and hates one of my favourite gels because her hair dries as she's putting it on. My hair takes about 8 hours to dry with that gel, so go figure.

oh thanks! yeah I took those gels back because they made my hair dried out. guess you guys were right.
If your hair takes a long time to dry, it's more likely to be low porosity than high. Does it also soak up water or oil, or take a while to absorb them?
