Has anybody tried this? It's only 20 dollars and I want to know my properties for sure ... I'm doing something wrong bc I'm still getting frizz and not holding definition long. Is it helpful?

Many people have said that it's a big help to them. Live Curly, Live Free is a website (and ebook of the same name) of a curltalker who is widely respected here.

Aiming for WL curls (eventually)
There is an existing thread where members posted their results. I purchased it and felt it was worth it. I was already using the correct products, but it confirmed ideas I already had about my hair, and why I didn't like the way most stylists approached my hair.

Sent from my HTCEVOV4G using CurlTalk App
3b/c, medium-coarse, low porosity, high density
HG: Jessicurl Too Shea and Kinky Curly Curling Custard
Shampoo: nonsulfate shampoo and Suave Naturals sulfate shampoo when needed
Oh good, thanks so much! It's such a good price and I really want to know my hair properties ... some days I feel like I know my hair and others I don't.

Long term member IAGirl is also doing analyses you can purchase on etsy. I can't post the link here, but search for "Goosefootprints" as the seller. I had mine done by her, and it was extremely thorough and enlightening. She also has some very good information she sends out as a supplement to the analysis.

If I had an analysis done I'd have Goosefootprints because she uses microscopy so is objective more than subjective. There is a detailed review on Pedaheh's Wavy Library blog.

Someone here said the LCLF analysis was done in the salon on her head which makes me think she is just feeling/ looking at the hair - people have had different results from a microscopy analysis (Komaza Care or Goosefootprints) compared to LCLF.

I recently did the Goosefootprints analysis and am very pleased. The info she sent with it was very informative. I've already tried a product that I'm sure I would not have purchased before and I think it will be a HG for me.

I did Goosefootprints too and found it very helpful, even more helpful than the much more expensive Komaza analysis I had done previously.
Salt & pepper wavy mix 2B/2C
Low to normal porosity, coarse, kinky, normal elasticity
Current favorites:
Low poo: Yes To Cukes Color Protection (the no sulfate one)
Conditioners: Renpure MPHIP, CJ Smoothing Lotion, AB LI, CJ Curl Rehab, CJ Argan/Olive, Darcy's Pumpkin
Style: FSG, BRHG
Pre-poo/DT: Conditioner with honey & coconut oil

iHerb discount code: PNQ285
I've had the LCLF analysis as well as the Komaza Care. The KC seemed pretty much in line with what I thought years ago and LCLF didn't seem as accurate. Plus, KC also sent me pics and it also includes a chat on the phone.

OTOH, KC tends to fill up fast. I would totally trust Goosefootprints because it's cheaper and it's a service done by one of our own. If I hadn't just done the KC one, I would've opted for IAgirl's analysis!
Coarse texture, normal-high porosity, normal elasticity (Komaza Care), very weak waves

jellies/creams: CR Curl Maker, KCCC, UFD Curly Magic
gels: CJ CQ, BRHG

I just got mine back. It was informative, my hair turned out to be something different than I thought. However, I was disappointed in their product recommendation section. I thought it would be more like, ok, use this and stay away from this. It was just very general and vague. I know they can't be specific to every person, that would take a lot of time. I guess I was just expecting a step more than they gave.

But it acts like low in the way that I can't use a lot of product, it seems to just sit there. Maybe just my ends are high where there's still some highlights. Who knows. I feel like I'm starting over now.

You can definitely have a range of porosity on your head. My ends are as porous as you get; my roots are normal to low. So while my ends have been dry for an hour, my roots are still damp. My roots are virgin growth, no dye, so as I continue to grow out my hair and trim off the porous ends, I anticipate my porosity will be normal instead of this crazy mix I have now.

I'm pretty sure the hairs I pulled out of my head were ones that didn't have any color left on them. My ends in front are most definitely high porosity. Everyone's been saying drying time without product, so that's how I gauged it. I can't really say the test was wrong, because that's the polar opposite. Everything else on my hair is normal, why can't the porosity be normal too!? lol

That's interesting ... I sent in for the LCLF maybe a week ago? I'm curious how mine will turn out.

I'm predicting medium to high porosity, fine hair, low elasticity ... the drying test confuses me too. Sometimes my hair seems like it dries extremely quickly without any product so I rush to get product in ... other times I feel like it is dripping wet forever. Who the heck knows.

Without product (the only time this has ever happened is at the beach or pool, lol) my ends are dry in under 30 minutes.

It doesn't sound like you'll need to change much- you have a good routine that works for you anyway, right?

Goosefoot prints!!!!! I did Goosefoot prints & live curly live free and goosefoot prints is far superior on the information they give you, much more detailed. She also gives a companion guide about ingredients to look for in products and links her blog which has a list of products containing what she recommended. She also adds pictured of your hair.
