I have a problem with dry scalp...any tips on fixing this? Thanks
Is it flaky? Do you cowash?

Sent from my DROID4 using CurlTalk App
Coarse texture, normal-high porosity, normal elasticity (Komaza Care), very weak waves
cleanser: Redken Fresh Curls Shampoo, CJ Daily Fix

rinse out: GVP Conditioning Balm, CJ Repair Me, CJ Smoothing

jellies/creams: CR Curl Maker, KCCC, UFD Curly Magic
gels: CJ CQ, BRHG

It's flaky, but it really doesn't show unless I itch my scalp, if you know what I mean. I shampoo once, sometimes twice a week. Otherwise I just cowash. I read that tea tree oil works, but where can I find that?
Coconut oil is good for dry scalp and dandruff! Try doing a pre-poo treatment with it a few times and see if it helps

Try Aleppo soap bar, i have great results with it. It's made off olive oil and laurel oil, the laurel oil helps to calm down the scalp. I had a lot off itch and flakes but now it is under control. I wash my scalp with it once a week and rest co wash, for me the results are so much better than putting the coconut oil on my scalp or using tea tree oil.

I'm having problems with dry scalp and flakes all of sudden and it's driving me insane. The only change in my routine has been trying out trader joes tea tree conditioner as a cowash...not sure if that could be the reason. I haven't used it for about a week and did a sulfate wash but still having dry scalp/ flake problems. I also started using AG recoil lately but I've used this before and never had an issue.

What is the diagnosis for your flaky scalp issue? Simple dryness (xerosis) is quite unusual, more likely to be some form of dermatitis.

Tea tree oil is for mild seborrhoeic dermatitis (greasy dandruff), the skin barrier does not need the lauric acid found in coconut oil, oleic acid in olive oil is an irritant for susceptible individuals, a proven barrier disruptor and penetration enhancer. Alkaline soaps destroy the protective acid mantle and skin flora.

You really can do more harm than good self treating a self diagnosis. Remember few here have any medical qualifications.

@nes223- I bought in a soap store in Amsterdam where I live but I have seen it online in Holland as well. I think in the USA it can be bought at site from which I posted the link (sunclaytherapy). But surely there are more online stores just be sure to get the authentic one as they are the natural ones.

It's ok! Most of us probably have dry scalp, read this:http://m.voices.yahoo.com/dandruff-v...h-1778597.html

I'll try coconut oil. Someone also recommended a ACV treatment, so I'll try that if coconut oil doesn't work
I've been using coconut oil once every 1-2 weeks. I think it's helping keep things healthy but I didn't notice anything different with my own dry scalp. Today I tried warmed up olive oil - applied it liberally, massaging it in. Scalp looked healthy, clean after. Made me wonder if alternating types of oils now and again helps.
