More hair woes...

So what do you gals do when you realize that you miss your straight hair? Straightening is no longer an option for me, since I have a short Deva cut - it is by no means cut evenly. Don't get me wrong, I've worked hard for these curls and they look good... but I miss my straight hair look. I feel like I'm an alcoholic who is relapsing. lol

I guess the problem I am having is I felt like I finally had a good routine down, and then the weather changed. My hair has been so frizzy and no matter what I try, nothing is fully working. On top of that, since I had to cut my hair shorter due to a bad haircut, the whole back of my head doesn't curl, so it just looks stupid half the time. It's so frustrating trying so hard to tame your hair, then when you finally do you have to start over. I should not have gone back and looked at my straight long hair from last spring. Ugh! Even though it was a ton of work to straighten it, I didn't have to fight all these products that do or don't work, or only work sometimes.

I was just talking to a co-worker about this and realized how stupid it sounds out loud to a non-curly girl. Any thoughts or advice would be great.

I just read your reply to me so I had to come find your post! I think we have very similar hair.
Like you, the top of my hair DOES not curl at all anymore! It just hangs there lifeless.
I'm really thinking about getting the hair analysis done from etsy. I will (unfortunetly) probably keep blowing my hair out straight b/c it seems its the only way my hair is presentable these days. When I attempt it curly, it looks like a rolled out of bed and haven't touched it in weeks haha. I really think for me at least, it was just a hormone change.. Maybe someday my hormones will change back and I can have easy, bouncy, carefree curls again!!

BTW, how did you like your deva cut?

My deva cut was amazing!!! I've never had this much curl in my hair when it was this short ever in my life. My front curls were really tightly curled, and whatever she did loosened them up a bit and they look more even with the rest of my hair.

I think I need to find a good deep conditioner without my problem ingredients. I just had the LCLF one done, and I thought I was high porosity, but turns out I'm low. I think this also adds to my confusion and hair angst right now. Had I known about the one on Etsy, I would've done that one.

I don't know if it will help you feel any better, but I think you hair looks much, much better curly. There's absolutely nothing about your straightened hair which isn't blah. You're an individual, but It looks like every other straightened head of hair out there.

Sixelamy your hair is gorgeous curly. I don't want to ride down straightys, but curly hair is so much more interesting. And it's not all the same the way the straight hair is. All curlies have different kinds of curls, yours are just lovely. I've been going through a bit of a styling/product rut, too. It's very frustrating when you think you've figured it out and then one day nothing works. But then you find something and your hair gets better and you're so happy and you dance around your bathroom!

Thanks gals!! I just had a day of frustration, and now I'm pretty much over it... I hope. I had no volume before, now I have lots! I do agree, curly hair is much more interesting and beautiful. You all made me feel better!

I have found some products that work a lot better now. Still searching for a styler to get that finished look. Someday I'll find it.

i HATE flat hair days! Glad you figured it out. Sometimes exactly what my hair needs is what I thought it hated. Doesn't help that the dews dropped very suddenly here and I had to change my routine.

For something that is technically dead hair sure is picky.

Hmm that's interesting. I've been avoiding Shea because my fine hair hates heavy stuff but lately it has been liking more moisture and less protein. I've been kind of doubting my properties so I bought a LCLF analysis but haven't sent it in yet. You had one done recently didn't you? Did you find it very helpful?

Not really. It just made me more confused. I would recommend the Goosefootprints one. The LCLF just sends you to their pinterest page with some products on there, I didn't find it very helpful. I thought I was high porosity, but turns out I'm low porosity, which would explain why I can't use a ton of product or layers on my hair without problems. Everything else I knew already. They give brief generic descriptions about the "type" of products you should use, but I was hoping more for use "this ingredient" for "this type" of hair, but there wasn't any of that.

After reading the thread about those I wished I'd gotten the goosefoot prints one but I already paid for the LCLF one

I was in the same boat. I'm thinking about doing the GFP one in the future.
