Default Dry Dry Hair, Need moisture

Hi everyone! So I'm about one week into the Curly Girl Method and I am LOVING it so far. Unfortunately, I can tell that my hair is pretty damaged from all the straightening I used to do. It just feels "dry", and kind of rough. Not necessarily frizzy though. I was wondering if you had any suggestions how to really add moisture/sheen? My hair just looks very "flat". Thank you all!

Welcome! Your hair likely needs conditioning and patch repairing not simply moisture (= water).

Proven beneficial ingredients for damaged hair include coconut oil, hydrolysed protein, ceramides, 18-MEA and panthenol. You might also like film forming type stylers such as flaxseed or okra gels.
2a-2c, medium texture, porous/ colour treated. Three years CG, growing out mechanical and chemical damage = breakage and very high porosity. Past armpit length heading for waist.

CO-wash: Inecto coconut
Treatments: Komaza Matani, coconut oil, Hairveda Sitrinillah
Leave in: Fructis Sleek & Shine (old), Gliss ultimate volume, Inecto argan
Styler: Umberto Giannini jelly, Boots Essentials gel
Experimenting with: going back to basics

Try a pre-poo with coconut oil. Also deep condition once per week!

Curly type: 3A Botticelli curls. Medium porosity. Medium density.
Pre-poo: Organic Virgin Coconut Oil
Low-poo: SM Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Shine
Co-wash: As I Am Coconut
Conditioner: TRESemmé Naturals
D/C: Nothing But Intense Healing Mask
Leave-in: As I Am / Giovanni Direct
Styler: Umberto Giannini Scrunching Curl Friends Jelly / KCCC

CG since October 2013.
SL when curly, APL when straight. Aiming for WL (eventually)

I've had success with the grrenhouse effect. Basically deep conditioning overnight with a plastic cao and the heat from your head creates moisture. I deep condition a lot...4-5 times a week.

I second deep conditioning! Deep condition the crap outta that hair! I'd use it to replace my rinse out for the first week. Be sure to also use a good leave in conditioner if you don't do that already. I had a lot of dry hair from straightening, and it took about 3 months of working with deep conditioners and protein treatments to get my hair feeling healthy again.
