New "This is J" headbands

Hey,
I am glad I am not the only one with headband problems. I have lots that hurt my head after two hours. I saw these headbands but the patterns don't seem very versatile. How do you guys make them versatile, after all they are 22 bucks!! I would appreciate any suggestions before I invest.

Well, I have a plain black one that is obviously very versatile. The patterned ones are a little more tricky, I suppose - however, I tend to wear a lot of solid colors, particularly blues and greens, so any of the patterned fabrics with blue or green in them seems to go just fine with a good portion of my wardrobe.

My black and pink one goes with anything that's black or pink, which I wear a lot of. The white one has pink flowers on it, but they're very subtle, so it goes with just about anything light colored. The turquoise one is tricky, which is why I don't wear it much. The one I just ordered is brown with pink, so I'll be able to wear it with pink and also all my brown shirts, which I also have quite a few of.

thanks for the info. I didnt see the black one, do they still sell it?

They get different ones with each order. If they sell out, they may or may not get it again. You could ask Gretchen if they can try to get a certain pattern next time.

I usually make my own headbands. But I sew and go to the fabric store fairly frequently so I find all kinds of really great fabric. I actually like to make wraps too. Like the kind that people with locks wear to keep the hair up and off the neck. I get a yard of whatever pattern I like and cut into strips then sew the ends together to make a really long strip to wrap around my head. I love to use these so I can DT in the summer while I am gardening or sunning. They help me to keep my head cool and as a sunblock so my hair doesn't get reddish highlights from the sun.

I admit the one I have I sort of have to plan what I'm going to wear in order to match at least my top to my headband. It's kind of brown/blueish/turqoise and white, so like Bailey said, the turquoise can make it a little tricky. I am so digging my cheap bright green one I got from the grocery store.

Do any of you have any pics of you wearing them?
I have lots of headbands, which are similar to these, just curious how others like to wear them

They are usually reasonably comfortable with me. Like lushaholic, I am a member of the Big Head Club, (I have a 24 inch head)so things have a hard time fitting me. I accept that I am going to have a certain amount of tightness. I just go for non-headache causing tightness.

I like how they have the spandex stretchiness. Each one seems a bit different. My sunflower teal is snug while my sunflower white is a bit more loose.

I wish the paint split less, but a thread over on the curlmart board explained that the artist meant for some of these to split to give a distressed look. With my head, I get some splits.

ETA a pic of the paint split. I still like these though. I have five of them and I wear them fairly regularly at my part-time job since they do a good job at keeping my hair out of my face.

That's a great pic!!! I don't mind the splits. I ordered a black one off of this site called Fashionflair ( I think) I "googled" this is J and found the black one and ordered it. Can't wait to wear it!!! :D I will let you guys know how it goes.
Hey, how do I add a cute cartoon under my name like everyone else has? I am so computer illiterate.
Thanks for all the help--I loveNC!!

Yep, and I got Ab-star's lovely one (is it vintage mint or something like that??). Anyway, they are soo pretty but they must really vary in size and materials used. I'd have to make sure the next one I get is much roomier. Lucky for you small-headed people though!

I think these headbands are pretty, but what makes them worth $20 plus?

I saw some cute headbands at Target yesterday in the jewelry section (not the hair care isle). They cost $7.99 and I still couldn't bring myself to buy one. I'm so cheap at times.

I'm the same way Brio. I've bought some really nice and comfy ones on ebay through an australian girl who makes them.

Hey Lushaholic,
Who is the girl on ebay? I would love to check out those headbands if they are comfy and cute!!! I will let you know about my expensive thisisJ band.

I'd also be interested in checking out the girl on ebay.

I know they're expensive, but I always have trouble with headbands. I started out with only one, for precisely that reason. But because I fell so much in love with it, and I do wear them fairly regularly, I've purchased more. I tend to have trouble finding headbands that don't hurt, don't slide forward or backward, and look good. These do the job so well for me.

I just got my headband! I see what you mean about them not being very stretchy, Lush. This one is the least flexible one have! It doesn't feel like it has much stretch in it at all. The other "cottony" one I have is a lot stretchier, it kind of feels like jersey cotton. This one feels harder to the touch. I have a little trouble getting it over my head, but once it's on, it feels comfy. I'm hoping it will stretch more as I wear it. I added a pic to my Fotki if anyone wants to see it on. Once again, my hair is straight in the picture.

I got my 3 headbands today (along with Curl Junkie Hibiscus & Banana Honey Creme leave in. They're gorgeous! I love the new packaging - the little plastic containers should come in handy for something.
