i think it might be worth your while to spring the $4 for the leavein, use LOTS of it and see what happens. i just put up some shots of experimenting with the GF C&S regular CO. it looked great damp, and great this morning after plopping overnight but did not hold up after the hike today. now there was lots of humidity for sure. this is not the final answer on this but it seems the leavein has more hold. anyway selfcurl, your hair is fabulous so the deva is working great for you. i am in the position of having to cowash every day since I swim so i am eager to find a lower cost alternative.

Oooh. Perhaps I have to start increasing the amount of this stuff I used. I've been using nickel sized blobs of it in my bra-strap length, relatively thick hair. If others are having such good luck slathering this stuff on, I'm trying that next . . .

yes for sure, try it first on a low investment day. i would say to take a PALMFUL, asmuch as you can hold in your hand without it falling on the floor. my hair is not thick at all and that's how much i use!

Okay so I tried the leave in with no gel yesterday. Excellent. I used a palmful and with my head flipped over, I raked it all in and scrunched it a bit and then another half a palmful to smooth over the surface layers and scrunched it in. Plopped for about 30-45 minutes and it dried very nicely. It was crunchy as it dried but once it was completely dry the curls had a natural hold, and they were very defined. My 3a's were thick and coily and my 3b's were tighter than ever.

My 2nd day hair has a bit of halo frizz but the curls are still in excellent shape so I will use a bit of the leave in to smooth over the frizz after I hope out the shower in a bit.

The weather will be warming up throughout the week so I hope this holds up as Spring comes in. Because if this works, I will never use gel as long as the leave in is in the market!

I go a few days without having to poo it out. Even if I do end up using a clarifying poo, it's just because I want to - not necessarily because I need to, know what I mean? Just play around with it and see what happens, then you can adjust accordingly. But, I'm not totally CG since my hair likes a mild cone here and there .

I tried this yesterday, too with the S&S leave-in! The results were really great; soft, shiny, defined curls. I was going to take pics, but I forgot. I was surprised it worked so well for my 3C hair, although I am now a little annoyed that the S&S leave-in combined with Dep texture gel is working 100X better than my expensive Devacurl ArcAngell!

Have been using Sleek & Shine (couldn't find the Curl & Shine that day) with very satisfactory results.

I left 3 quarters of it in wet hair followed by Volumax and next time I'll skip the gel.

Then each day I would revive my hair with 2 or 3 nickels smoothed on to lightly lavender-water misted hair. Up to 6 days of this and you cannot tell there is anything in my hair.

From reading the labels, the S&S and the C&S leave in are EXACTLY the same ingredients in the same locations except the C&S has glycerin as the 6th ingredient. That being said, I smoothed C&S over dry hair and noticed immediate curl enhancement.

This is a great product. If it builds up, I'll find a way to deal with it as gently as possible. So far (2 weeks) CO washing with Suave Coconut is still working.

Boots, watch out.

Oh so that's the reason C&S makes my hair curlier, the glycerin! That's the version I use. It's that time of year to switch back to it too.
I love the way I can smooth it on my dry hair or 99% dry and it doesn't gunk up my hair. Now that you have got to love

I actually looked for it in Price Chopper today but they didn't have the C&S, I know the other stores do there so I'll just pop in tomorrow and get some with my $1 coupie.

Do you use the gf leave in as the conditioner and not another wash out one? As I said, I haven't had luck with the gf wash out conditioner.

I don't use the rinse out but I do use my Suave Vanilla as my rinse out before applying the C&S as my leave in.

He doesn't need the curl enhancement so much I'd stick with S&S

I had forgotten how much I love this stuff! I have frizz free curls today ahhhhhhhhhhhh what a relief! It gives me great shine too and helps with clumping. Now to learn to not touch my hair as it's drying! I kept playing with it, it felt so smooth

How much do you use Medusa? My son has a short sort of curly fro. I'm trying to figure out how much he should use. I may buy the C&S for myself, it is on sale this week at Stop & Shop. I have 2/3a hair. I used to love Aveda Humectant but ran out and haven't replace it yet.

Well, I have been using this stuff since I got it last Thrusday and it is working wonders on my hair! I LOVE IT! Yesterday I used A LOT of it and then just a bit of Jessicurl CC and RR and my hair was so soft shiny and curly with minimal frizz. I actually could have done 2nd day hair today, except for my bangs, which are highlighted so always have a tendency to be too frizzy anyway!

I'm on 3rd day hair today and it looks unbelievable. Usually by my 3rd day hair I clip the front sections back because my curls lose shape and tend to wave...but they are still super tight and curly. I have a skinny headband pushing the front back slightly off my forehead because my hair is still flopping to the side (damn this part!), but otherwise, wow! All I did was slather a bit over my frizz and they disappeared. Great, great stuff!

Duane Reade (at least the ones in NYC) has Garnier Fructis products on sale 3 for $10 this week plus you get 25 bonus point on your DR Club Card with a $10 or more GF purchase. I'll be taking advantage of that and stocking up on this stuff!

OK you guys got me ! I couldn't resist trying this even though I've hated every GF product I've ever used and I've never had success with just using leave-ins. So I bought this and used a couple of palmfuls raked and scrunched through soaking wet hair then plopped for about 2 1/2 hrs.My hair felt gross and was puffy and the smell really bugged me plus my head began to itch.I thought I was going to have to wash it out at 11:30 pm but the itch subsided and the smell faded. I'm beginning to think my hair doesn't like the A cone at all! Good luck and continued success to you all!!! I will admit I'm a little envious at such fabulous results with a cheap, easily accessible product.

MsB My hair is longer and I use about two quarters worth over my length. If his hair is short he might need a nickels worth? You'll have to play around with and see.

I wish I had thought to take a pic. I had several tight spirals...... ME! I mean I get loose ones but it's even dry today. I made my SO come look so I'd know I wasn't hallucinating. Man it's good to have a decent hair day. Seems like my hair has been not liking my routine now that it's warm again.

Copper I wouldnt be able to use that much as a leave in. I know from playing with my own mixes that the glycerin will make my hair gunky if I use too much. It's fab for my hair and curling but I can get too much on pretty quick.
Sorry the experiment was a bust

I was going to try some of this, but I didn't realize it had a 'cone in it. I don't currently have any sort of "no poo" type shampoo, so I'd be worried to try this with no way to get rid of it if something does happen. Of course, I don't know that I'd realize it had adversely affected my hair, anyway. I'm still not sure what build-up actually looks/feels like. I might have it and just don't know!
