Well, today was going to be experiment day, but the unpredictable Seattle weather might have ruined it. It was supposed to be sunny, but it's raining. Oh well. I put about a palmful of this stuff in my hair this morning (in two shifts for an attempt at better distribution) followed by about a quarter or so of HE SMU gel. (I plan to try just the GF C&S one of these days, but I had to leave my apartment for a bit and wasn't brave enough to try no gel). Looks like I have pretty good curls, but the rain's flattened them out a bit. It's also prolonged drying by several hours (my hair soaks up water like it's nobody's business). We'll see what happens when it's dry . . .

I have a question. I was at CVS today and was going to pick up the C&S. I already have the S&S. While there I realized I may be confused about actually what we are talking about here . I was talking about the leave in conditioner. But at CVS I saw a product in a round clear bottle called leave in.

which is it?

Both have been mentioned, but I think the thread originally meant the conditioning leave-in (the one in a short, round bottle with a squirt-type lid (one that pushes in, pulls out) ).

Some of us are using the CnS conditioner as a leave-in, hence the confusion .

I was speaking of the leave in in the green bottle. I have no idea what from GF comes in a clear bottle.

Yes Medusa that is what I have. I saw a product today in a sort of round ball clear bottle and it said leave in. I was with my son so didn't get to really stop and investigate.

MsB, I think you're referring to the Sleek and Shine 'SHEER' version leave-in for fine and fly-away hair. That one comes in a clear bottle, but it does contain cyclpentisaxilane, unlike the other leave-in versions. But the regular 'rinse-out' SHEER version doesn't contain c-xane, so I'm not sure why they found it necessary to ruin the leave-in version with it.

I almost picked up some C&S leave-in today since CVS has it on sale for $2.99, but I realized I didn't have my $1 off coupon, and I refused to buy it when I knew I had the coupon somewhere.

Alright, even with the rain and light wind today after my 'experiment', I picked up two more bottles of this stuff while I was at Target. I have curls in the back I don't normally have! Yay! Think I'm going to use this as my 'cream styler' all week and see how it goes.

Copper I wouldnt be able to use that much as a leave in. I know from playing with my own mixes that the glycerin will make my hair gunky if I use too much. It's fab for my hair and curling but I can get too much on pretty quick.
Sorry the experiment was a bust
Thanks medusahair. It was cheap so I don't feel too bad. I see you only use 2 quarters worth. Are you using anything else with it?

I think the F & S made my hair a little less curly and didn't control my sons frizz. But I'm sure he just didn't put enough in. Next time I'm at the store I'm going to get the C&S.

Copper, I've always used a light gel with it. I think tomorrow I'll try using a little more than usual and no gel and see what happens.

Good luck medusa. I might try using less under a light gel.My hair needs some hold or it gets big. I just can't stop experimenting so I know I'll probably give it another shot. I'm getting a color tomorrow so all experiments will have to wait a few days. Today I have no product in my hair. I couldn't figure out what to use that won't interfere with my color.I have resistant grays to cover!!!

ok.. so basically this stuff rocks. I finally caved and bought some since it was only $2.89 at Target. I have clumpy hair for the first time in 2 months! (well.. the 60 degree weather has helped too lol)...

I washed and condished with JC HCC and Too Shea. I raked in a half-dollar size dollop then scrunched in a quarter sized dollop. I followed that with HESMU gel for some hold. Unfortunatly I didn't get a chance to plop at all since my usual tshirt got drenched, but I did diffuse until 75 ish% dry and scrunched out the crunch once completely dry. I did have a tiny bit of halo frizz but thats an always kind of thing for me.

WOOOO!

eta: my newest fotki update has shows my GF C&S results.

It seriously does rock. I've posted some pictures on fotki from today as well. They were taken at the end of the day - post rain and wind. There's some frizz, which I'll figure out how to deal with, but when compared to other pictures of my hair, particularly of the back, there's way more clumping. Heck, there are clumps and curls I'd never discovered until my GF C&S experiment!

ETA: Fear - your hair looks amazing post GF C&S!

Fear wow your hair looks good using the GF!
And holy crap sf your hair has some clumping! I like that tighter spiral on the side too!
Now I need to try SMU on top of it, that looks like a good combo.

Okay, I had to try this, since so many people here with the same hair as mine had such good results!

Since people apparently don't believe in curly hair in my neck of the woods, I had to buy the S&S version of the leave-in. All I did was rake in a small palmful of this through my hair after shampoo and conditioner this morning, and let it airdry. Holy cow, my hair is huge! In a good way, though I have lots of body through the roots, which I don't usually get, and the clumping is great. Curl formation is pretty good, especially considering I just colored my hair last night. I'll try to remember to take a pic when I get home tonight and post it. But I'll be happy if I can use this and get similar results every day

You ladies who posted pics: beautiful hair!

My sister in law took a picture of me and my brother on Sunday, and I will ask her to send it to me. My hair looked so shiney and curly in the picture that I was beaming to myself.

sf, if it wasn't for hair being a darker shade, I would have thought I was looking at pics of my hair from the back in those new pics. Mine does the exact same thing towards the top of my head. We must be hair cousins!

lush, medusa, fear, dominica, sfish--all of your hair looks gorgeous!! it seems like we are all doing well with this GF stuff but i think part of it is that our hair is getting healthier. I am finding that my bootswhite works great, GF, deva, elucence, giovanni, now trader joes--they all work great on my hair. i am still not quite getting it with jessicurl as much as i love her and her products. do you find that as your hair gets healthier, more products work for a similar good result?

Ok I posted today's hair pics. I have to say it clumps up my hair so nicely. I'm not sure the pics show it but my curls are real individual, they don't twine around each other like usual. I noticed that last summer when I used this.

banjo, yeah as long as my hair is healthy seems like I can get similar results with different products. That's why I whittle down my stash a bit. A lot of the stuff gives me similar results. The only thing that differs is sometimes the amount of halo frizz or a little bit of curl tightness. Not much of a difference though. I'm not sure anyone but me can tell.
