Are curlytops really more liberal? POLL
In Lorraine Massey's book "Curlygirl", one of the women replies when asked about her political party affiliation, "Would a republican have hair like this?" That answer really made me laugh, thinking about my own hair. Then I wondered if it was true. Is there a link with hair type/style and political preference? (Apologies to curlies overseas, as there are too many parties in all the countries of the readers here to be listed.)

That made me laugh also and I thought about it awhile and I see in the poll it is 50/50- I did think that comment was kind of funny though

I may be the exception, but my husband says I'm slightly to the right of Atilla the Hun.

I have been accused of this also Maybe it explains why I feel my hair is 'messy' when I wear it natural. It seems too out of control with no form or shape and I am one who likes neatness, symmetry, 'everything in its place'

Even if we live overseas can we vote for the party which is nearest the ideals of the ones in our country?
Eg I would say the UK Conservative Party (I don't vote for them, just using them as an example) is most like the US Republican party.

Completely going off the political wagon here but I have been told (by men and women) that in their opinion people with curly hair are more liberal minded and generally cooler people. Not that I'm complaining but it does seem weird that presumtions are made just because of the hair you have!

Very fun, interesting poll. I can't wait to see how it pans out. If people really do usually associate wild hair with being liberal, than my hair is fooling lots of people. I consider myself extremely "right wing".

Sure--if you identify with conservative or liberal politics, then vote!

Songbird- I cant wait to see either because if this were true about curlies being more liberal, then I would be a liberal. I happen to be a Conservative and proud of it. Some men find that attractive too when they find out that your views are not what they ASSumed they would be. You still can be 'Wild and Crazy' and have a right wing view.
I love the CG book but I thought that comment had no place in it, it was just ignorant.

Liberal all the way, Baby! That is not to say that I am 'wild & crazy', or some kind of jobless love-monger My Mom & I laughed so hard at that comment from the CG book, I know it can't possibly be accurate across the board, but here in SWVA it really rings true.
Funny poll, I hope more people vote/comment.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the poll! Strangely, it looks like Lorraine Massey may have been onto something. There are nearly double the liberals than conservatives in our little poll. It makes me wonder if conservatives are more likely to style their hair straighter to "look" more conservative, while in contrast liberals are probably more likely to let thier hair appear more "wild" looking. Who knows?--that's a different poll for a different day. But one thing's for sure--people DO judge us by our appearance and pass judgements about what kind of person we are by the direction or hair grows in. Characteristics such as intelligence, political preference, degree of seriousness, easygoing-ness, fun-ness, occupation, and social status are often assumed-as some of the curly conservatives attested to. I think that red haired curlies probably get the most assumptions of all. This could be a fun study for a sociologist or women's studies student.

I'm registered Independent, but tend to be on the liberal side. Funny since when I was younger I was very conservative. That was in the Reagan era though, so quite a few of my peers were as well.
