hey curls,
haven't posted in a loong time but I am still on the challenge. Here's my results so far, I started out with an inch past shoulder length and this is where it's at right now.

I just colored my hair a lot darker and I'm not sure if it came out too dark. Has anyone tried vitamin c for lifting some of the dye? Any other suggestions to naturally lighten it?

I think honey works. But you have to research it.

Hey ladies!! Great seeing all your progress! My hair is growing too. I haven't cut it since octoberish. Thinking of getting a haircut soon just because I had wanted to grow it all one length. Yes I am making progress to that goal but I have quickly learned that my curls are disappearing and that makes me sad. I need me some layers D:

Sometimes I get carried away and manipulate him too much. He tells me he's fine on his own but I never listen. I wash him less now and all in all we're happy.

Okay, so it's been three months since I last checked in, and I'm sad to say it, but I might just be a little behind. I couldn't be sure, however, because I'm not sure exactly which strand/chunk of hair I used to measure last time, but here are the results:

Middle/Top: I went from 8 inches (2-20-14) to 10 inches
Front: 6.5 inches
Back: 4.5 inches

I'm also sad to say that I haven't done much of anything special these last few months, so that could be a contributing factor as to why my hair hasn't grown enough to meet the 12 inches in a year goal, however I'll definitely add things like protecting my hair while I sleep, drinking more water to help moisturize my skin and hair, remove buildup more often, do the GHE and inversion method, and eat a more healthy, balanced diet. Hopefully next time I check in, I'll have better news, and possibly have made up for the inch I missed these past few months.

Hey I would like to join. I know it's really late in but I've been lurking this challenge since Feb. I will post my details next
Curl type: 4a
Strand thickness: med
Porosity: idk
Current length (including a photo if possible): when I started in Feb I wasn't even apl now it's an inch past apl stretched
The length I aim for: waist stretched
The challenge rules that I commit to: Committing to all the above...

Other techniques I intend to use for hair growth and retention:
I wear my hair twisted for about a week to 2 weeks max then wear a twist out for 4 days
I only cowash
Been doing this everyday and will also incorporate inversion once a month
I take prenatals and iron already since I am bf my son

Techniques and products you will use to keep your hair strong and moisturized:
DC: I use Aussie 3 min miracle on my ends
PT: My kitchen recipie 2x a month
Don't rinse all my condish out
LOC method: yes...I use water, coconut oil, and Aussie moist
Going to try Jamaican castor oil

Thanks to all the wonderful tips on here my hair has been looking so pretty and it growing so nicely!
I cowashed again today. Then I tried the LOC method. I went a little easier on the oil this time. I twisted my hair, but didn't do it tightly. My hair is doing better. I was a bit worried. The crazy part is that now I really realize that I needed that really big wide tooth comb. I lost much less hair than I usually do, which is good.

I am applying oil to my scalp daily and massaging.

Hi fellow curlies!
I straightened my hair when I went out of town last week, to see my progress(although it didn't last long because of the 77-80 degree weather )

Soooo. .. ..I had stopped thinking about my "progress" as much because work just kind of took over, and hair life just feels like it's going so much smoother with me doing more frequent PT's and using FSG. Anywho- a week or so ago I was at my wit's end with my hair one morning. I didn't like the way the curls on the sides of my head (ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS, they just aren't satisfied) so since I was running late I went for my go-to fauxhawk.

Only my "hawk" just kept flopping into this unattractive natural part in my hair. After staying in a funk for about 10 minutes and making myself late trying to fix it, I realized that my solution was to use a spray gel that I bought and couldn't figure out how to use properly but didn't want to get rid of to clip. It worked like a charm, and now I've even started clipping when I don't have time to do my twists on my wash and go's. I never thought I'd get to the day that my canopy flopped- I just thought the curliness of it made it a little invincible, lols.

I'm also getting to lengths where I am really not minding how my stretched curls look. At some point before summer session classes start, I want to make the headbands that naptural85 has a tutorial for. I have everything I need, I just need time, lols. two types of fabric, wire, wire cutters, duck tape, fabric glue.
3C/4A, fine texture, low-medium density, and low porosity?
CG since November 2013.

Pre-Poo: Coconut Oil overnight, or a greek yogurt mixture
Shampoo: Curls Cleanser and/or clarifier
Conditioner: trying out different Suave Naturals conditioners and GVP's leave-in conditioner at the moment
Styler: iagirl's super smooth flax curl cream. <3
PT: iagirl's gelatin treatment 3-4 times a month
DT: conditioner or yogurt base with honey and oil if the conditioner has none.
Hello all, I hope itís not too late to join in over here. Technically Iíve been growing my hair out since I had a few damaged inches trimmed off in December, so essentially this year. I've been growing out some poorly done, in my opinion, layers, and at this point there's only a slight variation in length toward the bottom few inches.

1. Curl type: 2C/3A
2. Medium coarse
3. Normal porosity, higher at ends
4. Current length: I last measured at the beginning of April, and the longest strands are 28 inches. Iíll try to get a photo when I can.
5. Goal length: 34 inches total, but hopefully 32 by the end of the year.
6. My rules: healthy diet, no heat (except diffusing on low), I never use chemical or color, no trims except a microtrim if I feel itís necessary in June
7. Other techniques: hair braided or up after second day, satin pillow case
8. Products: everything I use is in my signature.

I'm pretty sure my growth is about average, around half an inch per month, and I'm satisfied with that to be honest. What I'm most interested in is keeping the ends healthy so I can actually retain what I do grow.
