Curl Junkie Smoothing Lotion

I have searched the threads, and have read the product reviews. But I am still uncertain about a lot of things with this product. I know to try it myself would be the definitive way to learn just what it is, but I would like to get more information before I do that.

Though I find a positive reaction to this product in threads and reviews, I am not sure what it does. Is it the Curl Assurance Leave-in? I hear it can be used for other things as well. Do 2's need to have their hair smoothed? I have never used a smoothing lotion. Is it like Bumble's grooming creme? Would it be opposite of a beach spray?

I read it doesn't provide definition, nor much moisture, but imparts a softness to hair. Is that everyone's experience with using this? When used alone it does that?

And what about in combination, with gel and stylers? Does it help to perk up curls? Or to enhance clumping?

I would think from what I've read that the results would be a looser pattern, elongated, softer as opposed to clumpier.

The curl junkie line doesn't pound clumps in. It seems a natural fresh line. Clumps are a specific goal of a line and I don't see anything saying that Curl Junkie is one of those lines.

A super detangling leave-in that can help you moisturize and style your curls and coils. You only need a little to help you smooth our your hair. It can be used alone or can provide a great base for other styling products. It can also be used as a rinse-out or on dry hair to add moisture when needed or as a styling aid for twists & braids-----from curl junkies description of Smoothing Lotion.

Well, right there, they say it's a leave-in. But I'm afraid if it's a straightening lotion.

It's not a straightening lotion. I just see it as a very moisturizing leave-in. I also tried it as a rinse out and it seemed ok, not great though. I haven't used it for a couple years because I was definitely in my PJ phase at the time!

I'm tempted to try it again but it has glycerin which is bad for me in the winter/early spring.
