i want wavy hair , but how

halllo

my english is not so hot but i try ..

my problem is i have tight little curls , you can see my picture at the curly pick on pace 7 , eden 28

to get my the way you see it on the picture is a pain , when they wet with shampoo i brush them and then i take little hair sections and twist them thru my fingers , since i do this since i can think i get all my hair twisted in about 30 min. then i wash carefully the shampoo out and while they are wet i put a lot of strong gel and hair spray in it and let them try without touching them , but its all getting on my nerves doing this all time to make my hair look half way nice ,

i want to have my hair only wavy , but i dont know how to do so , if i dont saparate each hair section then i have only one big poof ball of ugly looking shaped curls some culrls thicker and some not even curly at all and if i straight them with an iron it looks fake and stiff and the dont fall natural and because of all the flyaways in my straightend hair i need to put something in to hold them down and i need a lot so they look hard or greecy.
so how can i get my hair defined and wavy , like beyonce i have seen her on a cover of a magazine and her her looked amazing like that

i am thankfull for some helping words
has someone a idea

Hello, eden!

Beyonce wears wigs and extensions. That's not her real hair.

To get waves when your natural hair is tightly curly, you would either have to straighten it first (by blow drying and probably also flat ironing) and then use a curling iron on it, or you would have to use a chemical relaxer on it to make it straighter. Chemical relaxers are pretty damaging, and I would only suggest that if you want to wear your hair wavy all the time. (Even then I don't like the idea.)

If you just want to wear your hair wavy once in a while, the best way would probably be to straighten and use a curling iron.

Sorry, I just noticed that you have tried a flat iron and you don't like the way your hair turns out. I don't have a good solution for you -- it's very hard to make really curly hair into waves. The celebrities you see in magazines have stylists who spend hours fixing their hair, and they use a lot of extensions too.

thanks for your reply , is there are special irons out there that makes the hair wavy like that , like that the waves have all the same size , cause if i only use a normal curling iron the curls fall apart and then i have a half curly and weavy poof .
a relaxer i can not use cause my hair is already half dead , and i have a lots of highlights , and they dry , it looks only nice when i put alots of stuff in there

You're smart to avoid relaxing if your hair is not in good shape.

I've never used a curling iron in my life. Can someone else give some advice?
I've never used a curling iron either. I'd burn myself before I managed to curl my hair.

Have you tried braiding your hair when it's still a little wet? If I make a couple of braids in damp hair and take them out when dry, I'll end up with waves.

First of all,
Your hair is beautiful...If my hair looked like that, I would be so happy!

Have you tried the CG method? I noticed you said you used shampoo, that may be part of the reason you're having a hard time getting your hair to behave...My hair isn't nearly as curly as yours (I wish I were so lucky!) but I know that even mine is harder to 'handle' when I wash it with shampoo...Perhaps if you used a sulfate hampoo to get rid of any silicone residue, washed with a lighter conditioner, and then applied a very moisturizing, emollient conditioner (I like Activate Hydrating Condition, may not be rich enough for you) maybe even as a leave in, would that help weigh down your curls a bit, and loosen them some?
Would setting it wet on large rollers and letting it dry give you looser curls perhaps? I concentrate on getting my waves to turn into curls, so I may not be much help. The CG method did help my hair tremendously-made it much easier to comb out (finger comb, don't brush!) and far more reliable (it may not be great, but at least it will not be bad...kwim?)

There's a sticky at the top of the "going shampoo-less" board that explains the whole nopoo idea...

hallo , i tryed to go shampoo less , but since i use so much hair gel and spry it did not get clean enough and i had alot of white build up still left in the hair ,

i have tryed only conditioner wash thing too , same results , plus my hair looked like very greasy and the curls looked even more ugly on me

i did try to braid even with gel , but tu get the wave size i want the braids had to pretty big , and the did not dry then at all then , and then i had thik sausages haenging from my had

one time in my life i wish i could have a nice haircut , but here in germany its hard to even get good hair products , and a good hair cut no way

i had cut me bangs so it looked good while my hair was straight , but now while i ware it normal again my upper hair is so short now that it looks like a piggy tail , so i have to pin some hair down , so much to cut your hair yourselfe ,

does somebody mabe know some nice hair pages to look for curly hair styles and cuts , i have looked here in the gallary but ther was nothing i have liked .
Wow!!! Eden28, you hair looks great and so long!!! I know it's not strictly related to the topic, but I was wondering if you get your hair cut at the hairdresser's or if you cut your hair yourself, and if so, if you have any methods. I have some layers, but they are "homemade" - my mom cuts my hair curl by curl - so my curls don't fall into place as nicely as I wish.
Oh, one more thing, do you have any pics of your hair seen from the back? You know, just to have an idea of how the layers are at the back. Thanks!

hallo

i cut myselfe the hair , , i did cut them when they were dry , i did cut it curl by curl ,
in the back of my hair i dont have no layers , i make my own highlights to , just because hairdresser over here in germany they dont know how too cut curly hair , even as i told them that one side of my head the curls are more tight and shrink in more , since they did cut my hair wet , she said oh no thats bull **** no way , and she knows what she does , the end was one side was shorter then the other , since then i did it myselfe ,
a other thing is for some reason hairdresser like to mess with my hair then and get all wild and make them real poofy looking ooohhh big big hair till i look even more stupid i guess the have never heard of define curly hair so the like nice , i cant wait to get to the states , to get all the good stuff :P
How about big velcro rollers? If you start at the root of the section and pull it to the end, the velcro helps comb through and smooth the curls out a bit then the big rollers and tension help create waves. Starting with super damp (wet but not dripping) hair would give you the best shot at pulling the curl out. You could also use a big round brush and a dryer to pull the curl out a bit before putting each roller in. Not drying it all the way, just enough to get the kinks out.
