crunchy hair

i finally have gotten my 2b hair to work making the most out of my curls. my hair can get crunchy though. i know some of you know how to get the crunch out. since the curl comes out good i don't want to touch it. do any of you live w/the crunch?
Hi there , just thought I would mention that as I type this my hair is airdrying and I know that at some stage I will have to scrunch the crunch out, I just tip my hair forward and scrunch it out, I find that it doesnt make any difference to my hair or curl pattern. Honestly, give it a try, whats the worst that can happen? sometimes if I get something new to try in my hair then I wait till weekend when I have plenty of time to myself then experiment, that way, if I don't like the look or feel then I just go back to the bathroom and wash it all out and start again, it's the only way to figure out what your hair likes, and you never know, your hair might love it!
Give it a go ( you know you want to )

What products are you using?
I know that when i was using mousse i had to be very careful about when i decided to leave the house i didn't want to be walking around with a crunchy head, I've never used gel because most people i know end up with crunch from gel, i found that spraying with water and scrunching loosened up the crunch i got from mousse.

Now I use cream and lotion products and don't have to worry about crunchiness anymore.

I must admit, Yes, I do use mousse so that explains the crunch, but in my defense, I am only using it up because D.H says I can't buy any more hair products till I have used up some of my other stuff

What i found helped with the crunch was to put the mousse on soaking wet hair that way it dried curly and defined but with far less crunch, also i was using the palmers Frizz control which is more lotion like than regular mousses anyway.

I find if I scrunch when my hair is totally dry, I dont lose any curl and my hair doesnt frizz as much from it. Its hard to resist, specially when I can feel it getting crunchy as it dries, but it always works better for me that way. I hate my hair crunchy, and I dont like it if it doesnt move, like a cast iron medusa affair!
So its dry scrunching all the way

But then again, too few to mention...
I like pretty strong hold gels, so I definitely get crunch. Since my hair has trouble holding its' curl, I don't particularly mind it. However, if I feel like scrunching it out, I have to wait until it's completely dry. I usually spray a few sprays of Jessicurl Awe Inspiraling Spray into my hands and scrunch. If my hair is dry, it doesn't interrupt my curl and actually gets some of the stringier curls to clump together. I've done the same thing with Jessicurl Confident Coils with AIS or LOOB with AIS.

i guess i can try scrunching after my hair is dry. is there a certain to scrunch when dry?
well i didn't often dry scrunch, like i said i would spray with a little water, and i know every curly haired girl says not to play/ fix your hair while it's drying it never did me any harm and that also helped break up the crunchiness.

But dry scrunching, do it lightly and small sections at a time worked better for me

I definitely scrunch out when my hair is completely dry. If I touch my hair at all when its wet or damp, it frizzes, puffs and doesn't look as nice and curly once its dry.
Like most of the others, I wait until my hair is completely dry, then I gently scrunch out the crunch. I usually flip my head over to get the bottom layer and scrunch; then I flip back and pull my hands thru like I'm making a ponytail to scrunch out the top layers. It doesn't mess up the curls at all.

I still use a blow dryer/diffuser for the laregest percentage of my drying process, but I let it air dry the rest of the way with gel in there. After it's completely dry, I scrunch it JUST until there's not crunch left. Once it starts to get soft, leave it alone. I rarely get frizz as a result of this! (If there is any, it's not enough to stress me out.) Just remember. Soft = stop!

I scrunch when my hair is dry or almost dry. My hair just looks like a wet dog until I scrunch it out, but once I do I have really nice and really soft curls.
3B with some 3a. Fell off but am now back on the CG bandwagon and looking for my HG products.
I have to wait until crunchy hair is totally utterly and completely dry before scrunching the crunch out unless I want to kill the curl and create frizz. So I wait until it's dry (annoying but necessary), flip it over, scrunch the ends out gently, insert my fingers along the scalp. root area, scake it up a tiny bit (to prevent the flat top) and flip it back up. Voila! Curlier and bouncier than before.

I like work. It fascinates me. I sit and look at it for hours.
