Hi everyone

Can anyone take a peep at my pics to clarify what type I might be? The ones where my hair looks very black and shiny, like my avatar, are when its wet, so not the best indication maybe.

I thought 3b, but some of you thought otherwise, but when I look at 3a types the curls look a little loose compared with mine...and also, my hairs themselves are the coarsest I have ever seen on a human being. Does the coarseness count?

I'm still not "getting it". I still feel totally clueless about my own hair! *praying for a curl friendly salon to open near me*

Any clues? Also, if any of you think your hair is very similar to mine, AND really really coarse and wiry, can you tell me what products you use? I'm having a nightmare time with products.

I think you're a 3b/3a mix. I see more 3a in some pics, and more 3b in others, so that's why I get the mix.

Hey Zelda, don't be discouraged. I started this board thinking I was a 3a, and realized upon further reading and reflection that I'm a wavy, no ifs, ands or buts.

Looking at your photos, I would put you at 3b, with 3c attributes. All our curlies are different, I'm wavy, but get spirals sometimes.

I love your hair! Wish I had it. My suggestion would be to add a styling cream that eliminates frizz, let it air dry or plop and don't touch until it dries. It's hard, I want to touch my hair all the time! But, every time I touch it, I'm giving permission to the frizzies. A leave in spray conditioner might help, too.

It looks to me like you're mostly a 3A with some 3B mixed in there. I think sometimes, it's often more useful to go by how your hair behaves, rather than how it looks, for typing. My curl pattern is way smaller/skinnier than the description/photos of 3A such that it might not *look* like that type at first glance, but in behavior (i.e. less curly when shorter, curl can get pulled out with length, etc.) it's 3A all the way.
