I do think the gel I applied last time might did it. I swaped for softer hold.

Ingredients: Aqua, PVP, Polysorbate-20, Triethanolamine, Hydrolized Wheat Gluten, Benzophenone-4, Panthenol, Oryza Sativa Extract, Carbomer, Polysorbate-20, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Sodium Methylparaben, Tetrasodium EDTA, Glycerin, Parfum, CI 19140, CI 42045

It also states in bold letters that it is easily rinsed. What did I do wrong???

The research for pre-poos shows they are supposed to be washed out with shampoo even though the curlies on here often have no problems washing them out with a conditioner.

In other words shampoo or low-poo your hair if it feels yucky.
I will try that but my hair felt already dried when I wetted it. Last wash when I applied my detangler everythig was very good. This tme it was like I was not putting in anything.

So if I want to make a PT treatment do I do it on clean hair? after I low poo? or cowash? and then condition with my RO?

I do PTs on freshly washed hair before the conditioning step.

I do protein treatments after I shampoo, but before I condition. Then afterwards I'll condition

I rarely do PTs though, because my hair doesn't seem to care either way. Maybe because I'm already getting protein in my shampoo? Who knows!

So if I overcondition my hair a protein treatment would be something that would help?

Overconditioning is a funny thing and is poorly defined, for some its build up so the initial solution is to cleanse effectively, not pile on more substantive ('sticky') ingredients. Sometimes it seems to be using too many potent humectants in high humidity.

Coconut oil is penetrating so can accumulate IN the hair cortex, but not substantive so should not build up ON the hair cuticle. Many here successfully co-wash away the excess.

When I first tried cg I got familiar with it from Waterlily716 on youtube and she described overcondition as too soft, mushy feeling, hair that frizzes.

Hair may feel overly soft because of product buildup, and need a clarifying low poo to remove the buildup. In that case, if hair is also frizzing, it could be because the buildup is preventing the beneficial conditioning ingredients from getting through. The fix for that is to use a good conditioner after clarifying to remove the buildup.

If the limp /soft /frizzy curls are caused by buildup, a pt can exacerbate the issue. The hydrolyzed proteins found in many pt's tend to "stick" very well to hair, so adding them on top of product buildup can lead to hair that looks even more limp /frizzy.

Firefox is right too, in that using a lot of glycerin (or other potent humectant) laced products (especially in high dews) can leave the hair feeling super soft or slick and frizzy. Humectants draw moisture toward themselves, from whatever the biggest source is, and during humid weather, that means they can draw too much moisture out of the air and into the hair. The fix for this isn't necessarily a pt, though it would pull some of the excess moisture out, but it would be better to decrease humectant use in order to fix the root cause.

For me, I prefer to go from easier fixes to more time consuming ones, so if I start having limp, overly soft curls, I low poo first (one with cocamidopropyl betaine) to remove any potential buildup. If that doesn't correct the problem, then I'll do a pt.

You may want to read through this blog entry on protein vs. moisture. It was very helpful for me when I first started CG, and it even has some pictures to illustrate.

The problem I face is tangling. And because of tangling I seem to shed a lot. If I use more condish then I have flat hair. If I don't use enough I get matted hair. I haven't found the between stage yet. Pinapling gives me awesome volume for 2nd day but makes me more prone to tangling than if I was braiding. I thought that maybe protein would make me shed less as it would strenghten my hair? Idk....

Is it possible that my hair is falling because my roots are that oily??

Idk what is wrong with my hair. Is it possible that low poo can't cleanse my hair enough and causes it to get build up? Or is it drying my roots that much to cause them to produce more oil? I am so confused. I am sticking to a routine but it only works for 2 washes and then my hair goes no no no I won't behave. I do not know what to do as it keeps doing the same thing and I can't locate what is wrong.

I shed a lot but I dunno how to measure thining as if I moisturise my hair it feels thinner than if I don't moisturise it enough. If my hair is poofy then it feels thicker. I am frustrated atm and simply venting pffff.

I do a pre-poo with coconut oil once a week, on the weekends. I don't really have time to do it when I wash my hair during the week, because of work etc. Plus, I don't think my hair needs it that often.

Coconut oil is penetrative and you're washing it off, so build-up shouldn't be an issue.

I personally low-poo afterwards and I know some people co-wash after and have no problems getting it out

What makes hair go stringy? Everything was fine before I plop. Actually my hair was very clumpy but after ploping it's so messed up. I know it might have been said before but could dimethicone removed with coco betaine or it needs sls? Not the water soluble one.

How long are you plopping? The lack of clumps could mean you're removing too much water from your hair while you're plopping. If I plop too long, I end up with ends that are dry, general frizz, and sometimes clumps that have been broken up. Another thought is that if your plop is too loose, it may be leaving space for your hair to move around and could be breaking up your clumps that way.

Yes, a shampoo with coco betaine or cocamidopropyl betaine will remove dimethicone. A sulfate shampoo is generally not necessary. This page is useful for checking on what will remove a given silicone: What's the Scoop on Silicones?.

For myself, I would choose a shampoo with coco betaine (or cocamidopropyl betaine) toward the top of the ingredients list, as opposed to the bottom, since the closer to the bottom of the list, the less of that ingredient is in the product. I'd rather shampoo once with shampoo that has a good amount of coco betaine, than have to shampoo multiple times because a shampoo didn't fully clean my hair the first time I cleansed.

Omg GeekChic you gave me such hope!!! I am sound overheating but honestly I was so close to shave my head literally. I usually plop for at least 3 hours but overnight works too if I don't oversleep that is. I usually use a different tshirt for ploping but it was not available atm. My low poo has cocamidopropyl betaine as second ingredient. Also my hg leave in had dimethicone in and I stopped using it because I was cowashing during that time. Is it possible to build up if I use low poo as my usual every 3-4 days wash?

Also dimethicone was very low on the list on the leave in. It took maybe 3 washes to start showing that my hair was becoming build up. Is aloe humectant?
