So...2 weeks postpartum and my hair is like the desert, filled with split/breaking ends, shapeless and could use a great treatment. I have tried the deva cut and it left me a bit "mushroomy". Any thoughts?

The Deva cut didn't work for me either. Are you in NYC? I recommend Alex at Alex and Anthony. She used to be the head stylist at Ouidad and she's a lot nicer than Ouidad herself.

To be honest, I'm not sure what type of cut would work best for you. Maybe post a picture and see what the other curlies recommend. Or read up on the salon reviews. Good luck with this!
2/c and some 3A. Modified CG.
Protein sensitive
Highly porous. Color over grey.
Best 1st day method: Super Soaker
Conditioners: Curl Junkie Beauticurls Strengthening Conditioner,
Deep condish: Curl Junkie Curl Rehab
Stylers: Mix Curls in a Bottle into everything for shine. Terrible pj
Sometimes try roller sets - classic glamor but I prefer my curls.
Every day is a gift
I heard the ouidad cut thins out your hair over time. I prefer the deva cut myself. It made my curls pop & he shaped my hair to my head.

Nvmbrcurlss! Congratulations on the new arrival I've never had a ouidad cut, just the deva cut, but a friend of mine did and she loved it. She has a lot of hair and a tighter curl pattern than me, so that method seemed to work really well for her. If the deva cut gave you bushy hair, then a ouidad cut might be just the thing. If you do it, make sure to share pics with us
2c/3a, botticelli/wavy/'swavy (huh?)
fine, dense, normal porosity/elasticity, dry climate

My favorite brands are Kinky Curly, As I am, Curly Kinks, Curl Junkie, and Darcy's Botanicals. Also love sealing with oils (loving argan oil right now) and styling with jelly products (KCCC is my current favorite). Mostly trying to keep it simple!

CG since 12/29/2011
i hate my devacut. She cut my ends so thin their knotting up bad. No shape. mushroom look as well. two long pieces at the bottoms of my hair.
^^^ Thanks J-Kells I will post a pic next time I wear my hair down so folks have an idea how things look oh, and I'm not in NYC, I'm in the Chicagoland area...

I've had a deva cut before and actually liked it just didn't like the long drive I had to make. My latest cut they did the slice and carve which is pretty much the ouidad method and I hate it. It thinned out my hair and my curls tend to look stringy now instead of thick like they used to. I am trying to grow it out and have decided to stick with my regular stylist from before plus it's a lot more economical lol.

I did the Quidad cut when I first went CG. I have to say I didn't like it. The carve and slice is similar to using a razor. I had weird short pieces months later.

I have also had a few Devacuts and prefer over Quidad. However, I do better with a regular stylists that cuts my hair dry and is familiar with curly hair.

Hey, I'm in the Chicagoland area too. Not sure where you are, but there is a great Deva stylist in Wheaton at Posh Salon if you're up for trying the Deva thing again. She literally saved my hair when it got butchered.

I'm back to a regular cut now as well, I just couldn't stand the unevenness of the Deva cut - since my hair is short it made for extra time styling for 2nd day hair having to rewet every morning. Maybe I'll go back when I have longer hair, we'll see.

Yes, it seems ouidads are more for those who want to take the volume/bulk out of their hair. I would never get a Ouidad because that's the exact opposite of what I want haha.
