Could a sulfate wash have ruined my curls?

My stylist used a bed head product on my hair and checked it out-tons of cones! I used a low poo the next day and it was flat so last night I used a sulfate shampoo and my hair is just dry and straggly. Should I try again using a low poo and GVP conditioning balm (my go to) or wait a few days? My first day at a new job is tomorrow (snow day today) so I'm freaking out!
I find if I use several products that I need to "fix" within a short span of time that my hair can get this way too. Usually on the next wash I'll use a cowash instead of a low poo. That usually makes it start feeling back to normal. I just did this the other day, and have to do it again this week since I'm going to the salon today, ugh.

If you don't cowash, you can always rinse your hair and apply your GVP and leave it on for 15 minutes or so before your shower, then wash and condition your hair normally.

Make sure the sulfate shampoo you used has no cones too and and if I were you and I felt I wanted to low poo again I would do it today and a cowash tomorrow for work so it won't be as dry and has time to sort of moisturize itself after shampooing. You could try just lo poo on your roots too and the gvp on the length and maybe let it sit in your hair for a bit. Than tomorrow you could conditioner wash. Sometimes I use Shea moisture retention shampoo because it's way more gentle than a low poo and still provides a good lather. It just doesn't remove cones.

Most stylists I don't think would mind this. Heck, it saves them product!

I hear the Shea moisture line doesn't have the muscle to clean the hair. I stopped using it because it REALLY dried out my hair. I would use a clarifying shampoo. I use the suave clarifying shampoo on my roots & cowash on the lengths. I I do this, my hair isn't dry.
You're right-I need to not be so hard on myself. I've struggled with my hair my entire life and only recently found a routine that worked....for about 3 months. I was so happy!!! The deal with the salon that pissed me off...
The stylist used deva products but she let her daughter (who has not gone to beauty school) style my hair. She pulled that bed head stuff out and slathered it all over my head before I had a chance to object. On top of that, she attempted to use a curling iron on it because we never wet it. I use a curling iron to add definition but I had to tell her how to do it. She was leaving the iron in too long. She said well you have so much hair and I had to explain that yes, even though I have a lot of hair, my strands are thin and easily damaged. I kept telling her it was okay and she didn't need to worry a or styling my hair and she came back with saying how much she loves using a curling iron. Not taking the hint, I eventually asked her to stop because I didn't want my hair to be damaged. If I go back to this stylist I'm going to pull her aside and tell her that I don't want her daughter working on my hair. Ugh! It makes me never want to go back but she does a good dry cut.
That is completely unprofessional, and isn't that illegal? If a person is working without a license, I would report that, personally. That is not acceptable.

I would say the curling iron probably did more damage than the shampoo did. I feel bad for you, that would really upset me as well.

She had her daughter do your hair? I hope she didn't charge for that. Sounds like she's lacking some client interaction skills.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks it was unprofessional.

It would be through the state, not sure what state you live in. I would just search on your state's website for filing a complaint for doing business without a license.

Thanks, everyone. My hair seems to be doing a bit better after a low poo and gvp for 10 minutes.

Thanks for listening and the advice.
