GoosefootPrints Analysis

Like Tree101Likes

My hair is coarse but at the same time porous. She recommended using protein in certain cases, such as before coloring my hair. She recommended hydrolyzed keratin and hydrolyzed collagen or amino acids. Have any of you used (with good results) a product containing these ingredients?

She also recommended heavy creams instead of gel, as I'm trying to elongate my curls and avoid shrinkage. Any recommendations on a good curl cream, preferably protein/silicone free?

Also, to avoid frizz, she recommended "film forming humectants" such as flaxseed and aloe vera gel. I've tried to make my own FSG with not very good results. Any recommendations on where to buy already made FSG? Have any of you tried the Aveda Flax Seed gel? I'm experimenting with FOTE as well.

Wendy also emphasized that my hair would benefit from heavy pre-poo coconut oil treatments.

Thanks in advance for your answers. I really recommend the Goosefootprints analysis. As other poster said before, you'll save a lot of money when you start buying only those products that are good for your hair.

Sweet Curls Elixirs on Etsy makes FSG that you can add your own ingredients, if you wish.

Thanks sixelamy! I'll definitely order Repair me soon. And I'll take a look at FSG at Etsy and order some as well!

I actually had my hair cut by Tiffany (LCLF) about three years ago and she also said my hair was coarse. She recommended avoiding proteins and use some of the CJ products (CIAB was one of them) which I liked.

She cut my hair nicely but I just don't think the Deva cut technique is right for my hair...and Wendy confirmed that. She said that Deva cuts tend to remove the "bulk" of the hair and leave you with un-filled ends, which is not good if your hair is not dense. That's why my hair looks very short and "stringy" after a Deva cut. My hair needs to keep the "weight" and even though I love lots of layers, they do not look good on my hair. So I think I'll stick with regular end trims every four months or so as I would like my hair to grow healthy.

I was very satisfied with my LCLF analysis and think it was quite accurate. But I will certainly try this one also just for fun and for any new information. Off to find it!

Just paid for my analysis and will be cutting some hairs tonight! : )

Oh you make me want to have this analysis as well! Though the process of collecting hairs scares me off a bit.

Also, I'm not entirely confident that my collection of hair would manage to go all over the world (okay, from Europe to the US, but still. It's a different continent).

I lose hundreds of hairs a day so clipping off 50 will be nothing.

I agree.. the clipping hair was totally not scary. I was dreading it myself, but it was no big deal.

I just cut a few from different areas: crown, back, sides. No big deal, you cannot notice it. Cut them very close to the scalp so you know in which sides are the roots and the ends.
Just wanted to add my two cents in that I had the LCLF done a couple years ago and then had it done by Komaza Care. If I had known the goosefootprints analysis would be offered soon I would have waited.

Anyway, LCLF said I had medium texture, normal elasticity, and normal porosity. Komaza Care said I had coarse texture (and coarse to the touch), normal to high porosity and normal elasticity. So, two very different results. I tend to trust KC more than LCLF because they look at my hair under the microscope, sent me pics of my hair with some captions, general recommendations and also a phone call to discuss my hair. But they are very pricey!

I'm pretty sure when I had my analysis done at LCLF, they said they used a microscope. I also got tons of info and product recommendations.

Got my hair all bagged up and ready to ship off tomorrow. Sending hair through the mail. Who woulda thunk it? : )

I've always been interested in having an analysis done but I'm a bit like Lauraimes - a bit wary and feel a bit silly sending hair overseas! Hope I wouldn't have to tell the women in the PO what's in the envelope.

Like Jeep, when I received my lclf analysis, it was informative and included product recommendations with an explanation as to why. I actually received nine pages. I still think it was worth the $20 I spent.

These new analyses seem to go a step further with the analysis and get more into the science, whereas I think lclf gave a basic overview to help consumers gain a basic understanding of their hair to help them find a routine.

lclf had stopped giving product recommendations because the manufacturers kept changing formulas and it was impossible to keep up with all of them, and by the time you got your analysis the product could have a new formula.

I put my name and email on my questionnaire and included it with my hairs. Didn't put my name on my hairs though, I figured since it was all together, she would keep it together in the envelope. Name and email is really what identifies you on etsy, not so much your address.

After she received my hairs she emailed me. I got my analysis like 2 days later.

LCLF's site says here, that:

"Effective January 27, 2014, Live Curly Live Free will no longer offer their hair analysis service. If you have previously purchased one and do not receive a completed profile by February 15, please contact us at 727-323-2875 to let us know.

Although we have made the decision to discontinue this service, we still encourage you to purchase our e-book to learn how to take care of your curly hair."
