Help! 2 strands of puffy hair :((

Hey Curlies,

Hope you can help me out here..
My hair is somewhere between 3a-3b, and recently i started to get along with it really well..
However, there are 2 strands, each on a different side (the area where the temples are) on the top layer, that are constantly are just straight and puffy..

I'm air drying my hair, and straightening once in few months..i tried to make those strands like the rest of the hair with creams, hair spray (to hold it from puff more and frizz), but nothing seems to help.

Maybe some of you had this problem, or have any ideas?
i have the same problem, and I'm not certain but that could be heat damage.

But did you find some way to manage it?
I have whole sections like this - it is part of my natural (uneven) curl pattern.

I am 2b with a little root curl on the very top, semi-well behaved 2c in the back - the wave starts a little farther down my head and the longer it gets, I get some large, strong barrel curls right at the ends. There will probably be about 4 or 5 of them when it gets long enough, LOL. But at the nape of my neck it is shock straight and clings to my neck, so that part gets cut shorter. And just above my ears are the wispy/puffy parts.

I'm currently playing with damp hair (not sopping wet - that tends to drag things down in a serious way) and a fine tooth comb to manage the sections in front/on the sides. The fine tooth comb allows me to separate the top curls from the sections above and just behind my ears that is finer and wispier. I mist them with a spray bottle and see if I can't pixie diffuse them. This is the best way I've found to have them wave a little more. I have a natural "c" type curl on the ends, and if I can get them to do this, it looks a little more even. But even from right to left, one side is wavier than the other.

I have no idea if this is helpful to you! My curl pattern will never be consistent (the curls are in no way the same even between the two sides of my head) so I just make the best of the hair I was given.

I think, as it grows a little, that the fine hair above my ears will eventually spiral around, I guess it's more of a 2a kind of section. I'm currently growing it a little just to see what it does. As the dew points rise, I may start to see a little more wave in these sections.

On the worst days: the straighter temple sections get pushed back behind my ears and bobby pinned there - and then I can rock some dangling earrings!

Mod CG since 11/2012. My waves occasionally look best when combed out, so you can pry my combs from my cold, dead hands
I do twist outs so they aren't as noticeable or if I'm doing a wash n go I scrunch them a lot
